HORRIBLE PLACE, RUN DONT WALK AWAY… my dad was there for a month and not only was the service horrible and the food shitty but my dad had to elevate his legs and had to use one of the drawers from his dresser to elevate his legs, even though I asked them over five times to get him something like a chair or anything to help him. Needless to say, they never got him anything here’s the video.

My mom has been a resident in assisted living at QLS Mercer for the past 2 years. The nursing staff is attentive and genuinely caring. They provide a cheerful and upbeat atmosphere which make her feel safe and comfortable . Housekeeping provides a very clean environment and the meals are decent. Also the other staff including the receptionist, admissions nurse, physical therapists, activities director and maintenance go out of their way to accommodate mom’s needs. In addition, we have been pleased with the new, very helpful on-site business office manager. We have been satisfied with mom’s care from the beginning of her stay but within the last 6 months her quality of care has improved even more. Overall we give QLS a positive recommendation.

Response from the owner

Providing a warm, welcoming environment where residents and their families feel supported is always our goal, and it’s wonderful to know that our nursing staff, housekeeping, therapy team, and support staff have all made a positive impact on her experience. We especially appreciate you recognizing the continued improvements in care over the past several months. I think they need to better facilitate more enriching activities for their residents on the skilled unit. They also need to look at how the nursing staff doesn't really regard the residents as people just a way to make money as they pawn off their duties to the activity department so they can just sit around gossiping.

Response from the owner

Theresa, we are sorry to see your negative Google review. We couldn’t agree more with the importance of enriching activities of interest for the residents we serve. As an employee of QLS – Mercer until recent, you were aware of our firm expectation that any and all concerns are timely relayed to the leadership team for swift and effective investigation and resolution. This is, unfortunately, the first we are hearing of your concerns. If you would like to discuss them in a productive way, please feel free to reach out to the leadership team at (724) 662 – 5860. Thank you.

Quality Life Services - Mercer PA has a very good and very caring staff. It’s kept clean, with many opportunities for gatherings, games, outside walks and sitting areas. It’s also not crowded. Almost very resident are is friendly and nice, and they get along. Mom’s 92, has an apartment and we know she’s in a good place, in good hands.

I was there for about 18 hours which was 18 hours too many. I went for skilled nursing with a plkan to stay for about a week. I looked at the website and I thought it looked nice. The pictures were for the long-term assisted living area. I was in the skilled nursing. I felt as though I was in a war zone. I saw a lot of running by froim the staff and from the condition of the skilled nuring, I felt dirty. The toilet was continuouslky running which was gooed I suppose I couldn't flush it. Somene frm the adjoining room had used the toilet and left some fecal matter on the seat and surrounding areas. When I did see an aide to point it out, she did not do a very good job in cleaning it up. When I arrived, I was supposed to get a head to toe exam. Never happened. I arrived around dinner and I did not receive my dinner-time meds or have my blood sugar tested as I'm a diabetic. I was also supposed to get some meds at bedtime and never got them. When I mentioned this to Lisa, the social worker and admissions person., she said that someone had logged in that I had received the meds and that they were missing from the blister packs. They were probably thrown away. Oh my, the room. A small room with a broken tv. One overhead light. I think I saw a lamp somewhere. I was in a room with an elderly woman who could not speak although she could moan and groan pretty good. It was difficuilt to find the controls to adjust the bed. At some point all the overhead lights were turned off by staff regardless if you were wide awake, going to sleep, or already asleep. Talked to Lisa before I decided to go AMA. I'm not a rule braker and I just couledn't stand being there fr much longer than what I was. I afraid for both my mental and pyshical health. Please DO NOT send your loved ones here. I heard excuse after excuse. When asked to see someone from the adminiastration. the nursing staff didn't bother contascting them.

Ms. Free, We are saddened and disappointed to read your Review despite our leadership team’s effort to speak with you by phone regarding your concerns (which you declined). Unfortunately, it is difficult to address and remedy your concerns via Google Review. Our Environmental Services Director checked the room you stayed in and all equipment and systems were in working order. Your medications arrived at approximately 8:30 pm via our pharmacy and were administered. Those not available immediately were instead sought from the emergency medication kit and available medications were given as ordered. The employee you referenced in your Review does not have access to medications. The admitting Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) conducted a nursing assessment. The skin assessment, which requires a registered nurse (RN), was not completed during the night shift as we have two LPNs during this time. This was planned to occur the following morning. We are sorry that you were displeased with our services. As a local family-owned and operated organization, we take great pride in the care we provide and welcome constructive feedback for improvement. Please feel free to call the Administrator or Director of Nursing at (724) 662 – 5860.
