Barclay Friends

We recently just moved our father into a nice one bedroom apartment. The staff was so welcoming on the first day and all took time out of their day to introduce themselves to my father and us. It is good to see that he is gaining his strength back with an amazing PT and OT staff that is helping him gain some confidence after a terrible fall at his old home that broke his shoulder. We could not be happier and he loves his new place.

I came for the chief cuddle officer, Ariel the beagle. She is a healer.

Barclay Friends has been so good to our mom! She lived in Personal Care (Preston) for a couple of years before moving to skilled nursing (Bradford) in early 2025. Many of the CNAs have been there a very long time and it’s obvious how much they care about the residents. Barclay Friends staff are wonderful and they get to know the residents, no matter what their position is- nursing, activities, therapy, culinary, environmental services, maintenance, admin….One example of many: Judy works for the culinary dept. When our mom lived in Preston, Judy knew when mom didn’t like something on the menu and would automatically make her a sandwich. As our mom has aged, her food preferences have changed which Judy recognized (& we didn’t always know as we aren’t there for every meal). When our mom moved to Bradford, Judy suggested a couple of tables where mom would likely enjoy dining. Judy really makes an effort to know the residents and is always so friendly! Mom’s first day in Preston the culinary staff made a big fuss over her and welcomed her. For her children, this helped alleviate some of our concerns for mom being in a new environment with new to her residents.

I had a visit to this community in November and everyone was so warm and welcoming. Beautiful and well kept place.
