One star is more than they deserve. We had my sister transferred out of there. I beg you please don’t take ANYONE you love there.

All I’ll say for now is this was an option my mother went with because there wasn’t much choice and she needed my grandfather to be much closer to her than he had been for quite some time. All that to say, if another place had been afforded to us, we may have gone with them instead of here. Alas. The staff were generally helpful and accommodating when not being ran around due to understaffing and being overworked. At the same time it felt like every time we made any strides forward with getting help from the staff we’d have to be taken two or three steps back in dealing with them as well. I had to wipe my own grandfather’s butt due to the lack of anyone on his care team getting to him in time for him to make it to the bathroom safely. I had to take him twice to the bathroom actually, and the second time got lectured a bit by the nurse on duty that day of why was my grandfather up and about. At the same time she made it seem like he could do things on his own. I don’t know if that’s out of forcing him to eke his way into a wheelchair and get to the bathroom, unsteadily so, as not to have to put more on their plate than they’d prefer, or if my grandfather just has me do more for him than the staff because he knows he can ask more of me and I’ll relent. It’s all very confusing and frustrating. Not to mention mind-boggling. His insurance only helped for so long and is now telling the staff and place he can be discharged when my mother and I clearly see and know the man is not well enough to leave just yet. There needs to be better help than what we’ve received thus far in order to ensure better care and attention for $500/day after the discharge to be worth it. There’s more I want to say, but I’m too tired and too overwhelmed to think any clearer than I have.
