My Aunt has been at Heritage Crossing exactly 2 weeks in the Memory Care Unit. Extremely disappointed in how things run and lack of leadership! Heather, the Director of Memory Care is very immature, acts like a kid (pretending to ride on a rolling rack and being pushed across the floor in a chair with wheels and spin) and wants to socialize with the staff instead of being a leader! She is not able to answer any questions family have. The fact that they are allowed to have their cell phones is extremely upsetting-when some of the staff blatantly use them ALL the time!!! No one checks on my Aunt ALL NIGHT and the 1 time she had the call light on the “care person” came in on her cell phone walked over reset the call light and walked out!!!! NEVER EVEN ACKNOWLEDGED MY AUNT!!! The fact that we were told they serve “Family Style” and that the care providers sit and eat with them is a blatant lie!!! They all get the same meal-they have choices from the menu, but no one asks them what they would like-they are in memory care they do not know to ask!!! We have even had to tell the med tech they were giving the wrong med! I find it so disrespectful in the morning when the “care providers” might come in to assist my Aunt-and her clothes are not changed, teeth not brushed, hair not fixed and not washed up! This is all part of the “daily living requirements” and to have my Aunt not look pristine for the day is just plain unacceptable and laziness!! We, the families are entrusting our love ones will be taken care of as family and be respected! I do however believe that Brittany the Director of Nursing is trying to fix these concerns! I am hoping they get things on track because the price we are paying does not reflect what we are getting! Alexa, Gage, Cynthia, Cassie, Tiana, Jada, Samaya Kimberly and a few other are quite AMAZING!!

Things have been shifting for the better at HC. Hannah is a wonderful and caring gal and I’m glad to have her as a point of contact. She makes you and your family members feel heard and respected and with assisted living those are qualities I look for.

Our relative used to be in independent living. When she went into memory care two years ago, things have gone downhill. Mind you, independent care wasn’t the greatest, but it is very, very difficult to transfer a loved one with dementia to another facility. Therefore, we are still at Heritage Crossing. We have addressed issues with them several times. I had addressed an issue a week and a half ago in regards to my loved one that her room was filthy. Her bedsheets were filthy and they needed washed. The person I addressed this to was River, which is a new memory care director from what I’m told. My husband also was in contact with Rebecca, which is the director. I myself have tried to call corporate several times. You will never be able to get a hold of them. Ever. They make it so that all you can do is leave a message. UNLESS you are looking to sign a family member up at one of their communities then they will talk to you. Fortunately, I was able to get through with Amy who handles the billing and she was getting in contact with Caitlyn who is a vice president up at Corporate. I had to call Amy back today to let her know that I still hadn’t heard from Caitlyn. Amy assured me that Caitlyn would call me back that she is very busy. Mind you, Caitlyn was made aware through Amy what my issues were. But Caitlyn is too busy. I gave Caitlyn plenty of time to call me back. Once you are a resident there and you are paying them $7000 a month for memory care, this is what you are subject to. Please see the pictures below. The first picture is blood and urine on my loved ones bedsheets and linens that have been there for at least two weeks. They have not been washed even after I asked. The napkin that you see on the bed is “stuck” to her bed. The picture of the floor and the toilet… that is feces on the floor and on the toilet seat, there is also dried urine. The clothes… They fold them and then they throw them wherever they can in the room, not organized at all. The room is absolutely disgusting. I have several more pictures that I will be sharing online. This is just one instance. I have several instances. I am absolutely at a loss for words and thoroughly disappointed. Not one person… not one has reached out. Instead, it is going to be my responsibility to clean up after my loved one that I paid them for. Beware before you commit to this facility. Talk with a residents family, especially back in memory care that has been there for a while. You should be able to get all aspects of the community. Not just what they tell you to get you in there.
