Provision Living at West Bloomfield

My mother is 92 years old. Before she was hospitalized she was able to walk on her own and take care of her basic every day needs. The West Bloomfield Rehabilitation Center was the worst experience. I want to try and describe it in detail. My mother was treated unfairly and disrespected. The CNA’s that they hire are disrespectful and just not the most approachable. We found out my mother had a bed sore while she was at rehab. The reason we found out she had a bed sore was because my niece noticed something on my mother’s bottom when they finally came to change my mother. Not one person at the rehab facility brought it to our attention that my mother had this bed sore. My mother had been complaining that her bottom was hurting but we thougt it was because she was in the bed so much and maybe she was just sore. This is a serious medical issue that should have been addressed early on. My mother would push her button and the CNA’s would sometimes take hours to come and check on her. I witnessed this myself on several occasions. Most of the time the CNA’s would tell her to urinate on yourself and they will clean her up afterwards. My mother is a proud woman and urinating on herself is not an option. It would take forever for them to answer the call lights and when they do answer the call light they would come in the room and turn the light off and you never see them again. After hours of waiting they would wait for the shift to change and the next shift would have take care of the patients who needed to go to the bathroom. The next shift has no idea that people have been waiting this long to get basic assistance. The CNA’s speak to you in a way that takes away all your dignity. I gave them a chance. I tried speaking to the administration, but nothing changed. The last straw was them leaving my mother wet all night with no covers, she was freezing. In all of my years I have never really seen my mother cry. My mother was in tears many days while at this rehab facility. This just broke my heart that my mother was being mistreated. I can only imagine how other people must be feeling about their loved ones in the West Bloomfield Rehabilitation Center.

I want to thank you the day staff of the 200 section, I will miss them Tisha, Sue, Sam, Shante (I think) she is the supervisors nurse from another section, PT Sam and Julie, Also OT’’s they were ALL wonderful!!! The reason I put 4 instead of 5 is bc of the food, they really need to work on provide better choices, but if u bring your own food everything good lol, If I ever need it again I’d go back!!!

I believe in the area of obtaining medical assistance/care whether at a hospital or supporting entities, all we can expect is best effort which in most cases is bare minimum. It’s truly sad when you are met with dry, surly inconsistent reception from staff. When individuals seek out facilities like these it is a cry for help with your physical and mental wellbeing. Why should I believe I am able to get better service from a fast food restaurant than a medical facility that I have placed the total care of myself or loved ones. I believe the entire staff should require weekly if not daily sensitivity training reinforced with a performance management regimen. I am not blaming the warm body that was hired to fill a slot. I blame leadership for hiring and allowing this less than substandard behavior. In other words, ‘you are only as good as your leadership team.’ If an employee respects their leadership and has been trained properly, they would never put them (and the organization) in a bad light. I am now expanding my search for a more suitable facility. It should be a calling for those that wish to work in the field of patient care and not simply a paycheck. Whether you realize it or not, one day you too will require the care of a health center…rehab, nursing, hospital or other. So sad…greatest country in the world???

The place do not help the people rehabilitate. If anything the patients will get worst because the staff are not the most caring people. That really plays affect in a healing process. They need more friendly and caring staff.. so if you decide to put your family member here please check on them daily. My grandmother health went down hill coming there. I see they took the photos down how they had her bathroom
