Unfortunately my family's experience was not positive. We were so fortunate to have their foundation help the cost of stay due to her low income status. However, this in no way compensated for her experience staying there. My mom is a social person that thrives on interaction. There are ZERO activities offered. Twice a month a small church group comes to sing for twenty minutes, but there is no outside space to enjoy, no exercises or planned events. There is a deck, but without sun protection. There is a driveway and private road, but it's on a hill and only one aid works at a time, so no walking. Her first night she fell because the curtain dividing the two beds in her shared room was five inches too long, laying on the floor. Aids are too busy with house chores, cooking, and non-ambulatory resident's needs; interaction with physically functioning memory care residents beyond basic needs, did not occur. My mom was depressed and agitated, felt that she was invisible. The owner/ operator is not in the area and has no supervision of the aids or resident care. The kind and helpful aids are over worked, causing frustration, causing a lack of patience; which causes memory care resident's confusion. The owner held our family financial responsible for plumbing issues. If a resident, with dementia, flushes a wipe instead of toilet paper, in an 80 year old home, there is going to be stoppage. BUT, they SUPPLIED the wipes, Expecting her to "REMEMBER" to not use what's right next to the toilet! The over worked aids had overlooked medication change details. My mom was over medicated with sleep aids when she fell onto the floor while there, and instead of calling 911, they MOVED her to a chair to sit and called family instead. I later inspected and photographed the floor where she fell. The laminate was lifted in the corner, which is where her slipper became twined, causing the fall. She had a broken femur, plevis and hip. She will never recover, now permanently in a nursing home. Viewmont Villa didn't meet our expectations for the dignity of our mom, their ward. They didn't display the knowledge needed to care for memory care patients or life altering emergencies.

We are truly sorry to hear your family feels this way, as we care deeply about every resident entrusted to us. At the time of admission, we were informed your mother was largely independent. In consideration of her financial circumstances, we provided a $3,500 reduction from our standard rate. As her care needs increased significantly, we continued to support her at that same reduced rate without adjustment. Our home is designed to provide personalized, attentive care in a smaller setting. We offer regular engagement, including music and visiting singers, as well as activities appropriate to each resident’s abilities and needs. Over the past nine years caring for memory care residents, we have consistently received positive feedback regarding the individual attention and compassion we provide. Your mother expressed a strong preference for independence and privacy, including during personal care. We are committed to providing attentive support while also preserving each resident’s dignity and personal rights, and we carefully balance supervision with respect for privacy in all aspects of care. Our staffing meets all licensing requirements. We do not find it accurate to characterize our caregivers as inattentive or uncaring. Regarding the plumbing issue, non-flushable wipes can cause significant damage in any home, particularly older systems. We only charged a small fraction of the repair cost related to this issue. With respect to her fall, a caregiver was only a few feet away when your mother turned abruptly, appearing to believe she had forgotten something at the dining table, and pivoted quickly, resulting in the fall. As you know, elderly individuals are more prone to falls. While we take every precaution to maintain a safe environment, there are inherent risks associated with mobility that cannot be fully eliminated. We understand how difficult this outcome has been, and we extend our sincere compassion to your family. We remain committed to providing safe, respectful, and compassionate care to all residents.

We had to place our aunt into a care facility. My husband and I spent several days trying to locate the perfect setting for her. We visited several and were not impressed. The moment we stepped foot into Viewmont Villa, Napa Ca, we knew this was the home for our aunt and where she would be happy. To start, the home is in a beautiful setting. More importantly, the home was immaculate. Not only was it clean, no smells, spotless, no clutter, the furnishings were exquisite. It was as though we had stepped into a resort vs a run of the mill care facility, we had visited prior. The guests were at the dining table when we arrived and all seemed very happy and content. We had observed how much care and attention the staff took with the guests. The staff were all soft spoken and very gentle with the guests. While our aunt was there, we had visited her at different times of the week. Every time, she was dressed, hair combed and more importantly, very happy. She told us on the phone every day, as well as telling us on our visits, how very happy she was living there. This was comforting to hear as we did worry about having to place her into a home (She has been very independent for the last 20 years.) She told us (and her friends that visited) that she was the happiest she has ever been. Coming from her, this was high praise as she is a tough cookie, stubborn and very opinionated, never holding back. She never had a bad or unhappy day while living there.

Viewmont Villa is a beautiful property in the Napa Valley. It was a difficult decision to put my mom in someone else’s care but so glad that I did. The food is great and meals are served in a beautiful dining room where they eat together like a family. They really cater to each individual resident even giving my mom a party for her 96th birthday. Cake, presents and lots of love. Most of all, they take really good care of her. Angel and Chrissy are the best!!! They take special care and meet all of my mom’s needs- physical and emotional. They make her feel special which is so important to me. I’m grateful for Angel, Chrissy and Viewmont Villa.
