I found myself actually enjoying the tour and becoming educated about not only the facility but legal and management restrictions.

Poor transportation not as promised when choosing this facility. Dining room dirty and lacks staff, won't even mention the food. Some care givers could use additional training, severely understaffed with trained personnel. Could use faster response to pendant calls. Communication to management goes without promises or follow through. They do have great nurses and Director of Wellness who try to help residents. This facility originally was affiliated with UofM who has a strong reputation for the elderly and healthcare. Being sold over the years, it is no longer the case. Corporate not interested in our concerns, just our money, I called and never got a call back. Afraid to voice more concerns and someone being vindictive back towards us.

Administrators are responsive. Care staff is actually caring. Excellent food and attentive food service staff. Good individualized care.

I had an incredibly disappointing and stressful experience with University Senior Living that I feel other families should be warned about. After initially being quoted a monthly rate of approximately $5,000, which fit our budget, the facility waited until just two days before my father’s scheduled hospital discharge to rescind their offer of admission. The lack of transparency and professionalism during the assessment process was staggering. Despite my attempts to provide context on my father’s baseline and recovery progress, I was repeatedly told my input was not needed. This resulted in: Inflated Care Costs: A final assessment of 116 care points that hiked the monthly cost to $6,121—well beyond the initial quote. Zero Flexibility: They refused to negotiate on pricing or honor the original quote, despite the urgent nature of the situation. Last-Minute Denial: By denying him admission 48 hours before discharge, they left us with no care plan and zero time to find an alternative. I worked night and day to make the new pricing work for our family but they stated that they were concerned if care needs increased in the future we wouldn't be able to afford it. Even after I had stated I was able to adjust finances to make the payments work. Navigating senior care is emotional and difficult enough without a facility adding unnecessary financial hurdles and pulling the rug out at the final hour. I would advise any family to be extremely cautious of their assessment process and "quoted" rates.
