Updated from Previous review I don’t typically leave public reviews, but after months of attempting to resolve concerns privately and in writing, I think it’s important to share a factual experience with Towne Club Windermere. My mother is in memory care under hospice. I hold durable power of attorney and have been actively involved in her care. 1. Food Safety Score & Transparency The facility has operated with a publicly posted dining/food safety score in the mid-70s (a “C”) , after a previous failing 64, for an extended period. When I asked for basic details—how this was communicated to residents/families and what corrective actions were taken—I did not receive a clear, documented response. A general explanation was provided, but no record of the original communication (date, distribution, or audience) was produced when requested. For something as fundamental as food safety in a senior living environment, that lack of clarity is concerning. 2. Access & Communication from Ownership In written communication that followed my inquiries about the food safety score, the owner stated that he would “demand that [I] not come on site in the future” if certain conditions were not met, including a required apology to staff. For a family member holding power of attorney for a nonverbal resident in hospice, it is reasonable to ask: is that appropriate language to use in response to questions about a publicly posted food safety score? When I later asked for a direct yes/no clarification on those statements, no direct answer was provided. Lastly the owner has reviewed his own facility and commented on it as he was a resident.
