I would strongly caution anyone considering The Oaks for a loved one's care. My grandfather was admitted to The Oaks for rehabilitation following knee surgery. During his stay, he developed MRSA and pneumonia. His condition was not addressed with the urgency and attention it required. He frequently requested his inhaler and would sometimes wait hours before receiving it. Despite repeated advocacy from our family regarding his declining health, we felt our concerns were ignored. Not to mention the staff members were so rude when we expressed our concerns. Eventually, The Oaks transferred him to Metro Hospital for treatment for his pneumonia, but it was too late. He later passed away on May 6th. We also experienced multiple violations of patient privacy and HIPAA protections, which added to our concerns about the quality of care and professionalism. What makes this especially difficult is that my grandfather genuinely loved The Oaks and had positive experiences there in the past. However, he personally told us that he felt his health was severely neglected during this stay while we were at the hospital. We also experienced multiple violations of patient privacy and HIPAA protections, which added to our concerns about the quality of care and professionalism. This review reflects our family's experience. We are heartbroken by what happened and would not feel comfortable entrusting another loved one to this facility.

This is the worst Care Facility I have ever encountered. My mom was at The Oaks of Byron Center rehab for 4 weeks after a foot surgery and was severely neglected. We had to advocate for her everyday for 4 weeks. And still she was neglected. She was treated like an 88-year-old that had no more life to live. Some of the nurses were very rude to her and would take up to 2 hours to respond to her calling for assistance. After being severely dehydrated and having pneumonia, The Oaks of Byron Center finally admitted her to the hospital. She passed away 5 days later. This facility is an absolute disgrace and should not be operating. They also do not allow you to take your loved one to see their own doctor. My family has heard this same story repeated by several families. If only we had known prior to moving mom into the rehab facility at The Oaks of Byron Center, we would have moved her elsewhere. Maybe she would be with us today.

My father was placed here for rehab. They really didn’t want to do very much with him. We were there every day. They didn’t shower him for a week and we had to go down to get his clothes. He was left in the slippery chair one night and fell out of it, causing large scrape on his arm. He got MRSA from the scrape on the floor. He was sent home and my mother was never told that he had MRSA. She took him to family doctor and he told my mom. Dad died soon after.
