Tall Oaks Assisted Living

We moved my mother to Tall Oaks from a rehabilitation center after an injury based on our tour and meeting with the admissions representative. We had high hopes that this would be my mother's "forever home," however we ultimately ended up moving her out, because what we were promised (a 5-7 minute response time when my mom hit the call button -- for which we paid extra) was not the reality. My mom called for help to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night and because no one came within 15-20 minutes (or at all), she got up herself and fell at least twice as a result. She was assessed at needing level 4 care, and we were assured that nurses would be attentive, but their response times and lack of attentiveness were a constant disappointment during her 3 month stay. The nursing staff was generally not kind and when it was brought up to management, there was little to no response -- let alone acknowledgement. The dining hall staff was attentive and helpful; the activities staff made things fun for residents by offering a variety of activities, and the physical and occupational therapy was simply excellent; however the nursing was below expectations. If your family member is mobile and needs less care, this facility may be fine for your needs, however anyone needing higher level care should do their research and be diligent in checking nursing support, attentiveness and timeliness of medication. I hope others' experiences are better than ours.

My mother and father spent their final years at Tall Oaks. We brought them there because of my mom's dementia and my father's increasing inability to care for her. The management was cooperative and willing to deal in ways that made a frankly very expensive obligation for us more affordable, while ensuring my parents were appropriately accommodated as their needs changed. The nursing staff were both dedicated and friendly, and my parents liked them a lot. Before my father passed, Tall Oaks allowed/encouraged us to mount a retrospective exhibit of his artworks that covered an entire floor. This was just one example of the family atmosphere that Tall Oaks has encouraged. We are grateful to Tall Oaks' staff for making our parents' final years as pleasant as their difficult medical circumstances allowed.

In my time at Tall Oaks I have found the environment to be one that is friendly and supportive. From the Executive Director through the department heads and to the administrative, support, and nursing/care staff, my experience has been they will work to satisfy the needs of the residents. It is said that laughter is the best medicine. Well, sometimes laughter needs an assist from chemical medicines, but being positive is an important aspect to any treatment plan. The environment I have experienced at Tall Oaks has been one that has nurtured my positive attitude contributing to an improved health outlook. I would whole heartedly recommend anyone looking for assisted living support check out Tall Oaks. I would make the choice again.

We are so thankful for the care, kindness and compassion my mother has been shown during her first month. It gives us great comfort knowing she is surrounded by people who treat her with dignity, patience, and warmth. The nursing staff gives her careful care and attention. The restaurant and dining staff is friendly and attentive. They know what she likes to eat and pays close attention to her preferences. The office and admission staff has been beyond helpful. They helped us navigate this new transition with patience and grace. The activities team is amazing and the activities are engaging. We love the "Life Loop" app that keeps us updated throughout the day. The housekeeping staff has kept her suite super clean and takes great care of her linens. The maintenance staff was super quick to solve her AC and blinds. The staff at Functional Pathways has been amazing helping her with speech/OT/PT and she is thriving. Tall Oaks Assisted Living had made a difference in our mother's life and ours. We are so thankful to call this place her new home.

For those looking for a place for a loved one, search no longer. This is the place! My sister has been there for close to a year and she absolutely loves it. Pricing seems reasonable for what you get. If you don't check this place out, you are making a huge mistake.
