This place was everything we were looking for in a facility for my MIL! Or so we thought.....When we first arrived for a tour we were greeted by their on-site golden doodle who was so adorable! Especially since a Dog friendly community was a make it or break it deal for us, this really stood out! We spoke with Robin at length about my MIL recent dementia and Alzheimers diagnosis and the difficulties in finding a place for her specific needs. My MIL is highly intelligent, articulate, and educated so we needed a home that had higher cognitive functioning residents so she could have some peers. We were also drawn here because their website offers this in 2 levels of memory care. We found out that only a handful of the Sunrise communities have this level and the closest one was in Katy TX. We were assured that Sunrise Frisco, although only having the Reminiscence level for Memory care, had several residents who were high functioning. So much in fact that they had a resident currently residing in memory care but she was allowed to have the code and come and go to activites with the assisted living residents so she could have more stimulation and a more fulfilling experience. We were blown away! The thought of her being safe and cared for in an environment that would meet her needs where she would thrive with other residents seemed like a dream come true! Not to mention they would allow her to have her beloved King Charles Cavalier! We were SOLD...and now looking back thats exactly what was done...Sold on a complete lie. There was one small catch, we couldn't even set up an evaluation until we paid the $8,0000 non refundable community fee. So we did! We showed up for the evaluation, everything went well until the very end when they asked to speak with me privately. I stepped into a meeting with Tisha, Peddy, Raven, and young woman who was in training. They started with...she cant have a dog in memory care....My response was to the effect of "well that seems like a bait and switch after our deposit was taken!" We went around and around but finally decided so many other aspects were amazing like her getting to mingle with AL residents etc. We moved forward, the paperwork process was a nightmare, there is zero follow through with this team. They said our doctors offices were slow and non communicative. I followed up myself and they said the paperwork was sent, Tisha said she needed an extra document which I obliged only for the day of move in I get another call. Tisha says she didn't even look at the paperwork and it was missing information. We were scrambling to meet the move in deadline due to their short comings. We had already been paying for her room for over a week. She gets information from the dr that was concerning my MIL psych evaluation. We speak about it and she warns me if needed for med correction or any behavioral issues they could result in sending her out to a facility if needed and then bring her back. I agreed and she assured me their facility had top tier care and were fully capable of handling any situations that arise. Regretfully, we move my MIL in on July 24th. Not even 24 hours later they say she went out the exit door and they now need to bring in a caregiver 24 hours a day for an additional $750 daily. She had a private caregiver her entire stay. Today they call and say they sent her to psych care and she can no longer be a resident. Loss for words! We paid almost 30k to this place and the level of care was completely sub par & lacking. Personally the ladies all seemed lovely. Professionally they lack communication and organizational skills. The front and back of the house need to do some serious talking. Nothing adds up. Bottom line if you're thinking of memory care for your loved one, I would think twice before trusting the team at Sunrise Frisco. This is extremely detailed because this is a major life choice! This is where our loved ones will spend the rest of their lives! Don't be fooled by these other reviews claiming they toured and it looks great! Do your due diligence with this facility!
