The only positives at this place is the cleanliness, the food, and activities available to the residents. The care provided to my loved one in the one month he was there was horribly unacceptable and I was constantly addressing issues with management. My family member was bedridden and on hospice. Because of the lack of care, I had to be at the facility at least 4-5 days a week to make sure he was taken care of. Meals started coming later, incontinence checks were not being done consistently or aides would just peek in and I would have to request a diaper check (which resulted in the need for a change majority of the time). He fell out of bed 2nd night-family nor hospice were contacted. Room temperature adjusted to mid 60's during night and clothes removed leaving him in a diaper only. Meds not properly administered based on approach leading to him not taking them. Hospice often had to get involved addressing the need that he get his comfort meds to alleviate pain and aggression. Staff not trained to or able to handle mood swings and aggression as a result of his brain tumor. Lack of changing at night. I finally had to install a camera in the room the last 4 days of his life which resulted in a 75% improvement and i was with him the entire time for the last 36 hours of his life. Less than 1 hour prior to his death as I sat there holding his hand, I was approached by management advising me to put in my 30 day notice for his residency since we knew he was dying. How inconsiderate can one person be!!!!!??? I made sure to have all his belongings removed in less than 24 hours. As I was removing his things the next morning, I was not approached by any staff member or management offering any condolences except for the one med tech who was with me the last night of his life. When I finished packing and loading his belongings, the receptionist said I could just give her the room key as no one in management was available. I had also started hearing other families and residents beginning to voice complaints the last week we were there. This is not a place that I would recommend to anyone for someone who truly needs care based on my experience.

The best comprehensive care for my loved one. Sunrise has been a blessing. They have a consistent staff that is well trained. The facility is warm and inviting. They provide full time activities director, nutritional meals, medication management, weekly monitoring and care from physicians assistant, full time registered nurse, etc.

Been the worst experience of my life . They have drained every $1 from my grandfathers account . The bill increased thousands of dollars within the first month . They add meds based off there own assessment to take your loved ones medication level to the highest degree to charge THOUSANDS more without any notification. This place should be shut down for fraud and news outlets should cover this . They put him on mood medications and everything else when he has always been a happy man . This is just the tip of what we been through . They are always plotting on how to increase your bill through the roof every chance they get . Every month has been a disaster and if you love your loved ones DO NOT BRING THEM HERE !!!!!! I will be making sure I post how awful this place has been every chance I get to make sure no one else has to go through this

My mother in law has thrived at Sunrise since she came three years ago. She was very ill when she came. The doctor, nurse practitioner, physical therapist, med techs, nurses, caregivers, all helped her recover and now she is able to enjoy the people and activities there. I am grateful for every kind, caring worker at Sunrise. They have helped our family in so many ways.

Response from the owner

We are so glad, Cindy, that you shared such a wonderful story about how Sunrise at Bon Air has helped you and your loved one. Thank you for taking the time to share this heart-warming message. – The Sunrise Team
