This facility did not notice our family member had a stroke that significantly changed her mental and physical status. They never followed a doctors order to obtain a urine sample for over 5 weeks twice. We decided it would be irresponsible to return her to sunrise giving the lack of care she received and the consistent decline she experienced. This was our 3rd facility and by far the worst! Promise the world and delivered poorly. Very understaffed. ED is uncaring.

This place is terrible! Don't let them tell you they can handle high aquity residents. Or that they can use Hoyer lifts. It's a sale pitch. They do not take good care of residents. If you are going to spend money to get care for your LO go to a place that truly has staff trained to care for them not this crazy place.

My mother has been a resident here for many years. She is happy there and from what we see is receiving good care and is treated with respect. Due to finances, we thought we might have to move Mom out to another facility which accepted Medicaid, however the director at Sunrise was able to offer a creative solution for us and Mom was able to stay! We are very grateful and appreciative about how the situation was handled by Sunrise.
Response from the owner

When mom moved in three years ago everything was great. She met friends, and even created new fun activities such as Show and Tell, and a poetry club for residents. However when mom's health started to decline (she had Parkinson's) everything changed. I would arrive unannounced to find her sitting in the dark with her call button missing often. Things got really bad about a year ago when some leadership changes at the Wilmington site occurred. No communication, and it was hard to find anyone to speak with during visits. Mom passed away Aug 2 while I was on vacation and no one from Sunrise reached out to me, or my sister to express their condolences, or to help us understand next steps. This survey (over a month later) is the first communication I have received. I wish I could give a better rating but for a private pay facility the care and communication was greatly lacking.
