The Retreat at the Stratford

I am an environmentalist and enjoy walks in our many parks. Carmel has a treasury of parks and when Joe Lembo, our assistant social director and former National Park Ranger leads us on these walks, it becomes a meaningful experience. Also, the Stratford is surrounded by many safe walking trails on both sides of Towne Road. Always take your phone which counts your steps and remembers roads go North and South and streets go East and West!

The first thing I noticed when I moved into the Stratford was the welcoming staff at the front desk. They call you by name and are always very helpful. It sets the atmosphere which is always positive. The residents are also very friendly and encouraging. The best way to fit in is to try some of the classes, especially the exercise classes. All the programs are well selected and have such a variety of topics. Thank you to all the staff that spend countless hours for us! Friendly Focused Fun

The Stratford is a lovely senior living community, and my mother-in-law is very happy there. Located in the attractive village of West Clay, Bev relishes going for walks indoors and out, past the fountain, through the beautiful plantings of Reagan Park and around the tranquil neighborhood. Mrs Llewellyn likes the various exercise opportunities, (I.e. Balance class, swimming in the indoor pool.) She appreciates help from the staff with her phone & computer, and the dusting, vacuuming and changing of linens from the weekly cleaning crew. The dining room offers a wide range of culinary options, and the wait staff are very kind and helpful. She enjoys Sunday matinees in the theatre, playing Canasta with her card club and joining others for Bible study. The Stratford provides opportunities for residents to be involved and connect with other residents, and Bev has made some dear friends there. My wife & I are grateful Mom is content, and that there are other levels of care available at the Stratford. After a bad fall, Bev was able to recuperate at “The Retreat” (located in the assisted living wing) where she received skilled care nursing, occupational, physical, and speech therapy, until she was strong enough to return to her apartment in independent living.

We have always been impressed with how quickly the dining room staff and concierge staff learned our names. Along with the other residents welcoming you, you quickly feel at home and part of the "family". All that we could ever want is here under one roof. No need to go outdoors to get to a workout area or swimming pool. Underground parking is a marvelous convenience.
