Primrose Retirement Community of Jefferson City

My brother and I toured and researched several places for our mom and dad. Our top choice was Primrose. Mom and Dad moved in to Primrose in January. The best thing is Mom and Dad could live together. My mom’s health declined soon after they moved in. And Primrose handled the care with a lot of patience and sensitivity. The staff is knowledgeable, kind and very helpful. Dad is adjusting to being by himself now since Mom passed away at the end of February. The staff takes good care of him, and staff as well as other residents make him feel included in the community. His apartment is clean and comfortable. The restaurant staff is great and serve delicious meals. There is plenty of activities that Dad enjoys like live music in the Pub and movies in the theater. They also have special recognition for veterans and Dad is a proud soldier and was an officer in the Army. Primrose is a wonderful place and I’m thankful Dad is living there!

I received an email from Brittany Huenecke requesting that I vote for Primrose in the News Tribune "Readers Choice 2026" ranking. Primrose tried to charge my elderly parent past his 30 days notice and then took almost 3 months to return his security deposit. I was repeatedly told it was in the mail and would be received any day. I finally had to call the corporate office to get this resolved and found out that it hadn't even been mailed. So no, I won't be participating in this poll. It wasn't surprising they weren't recognized this year by Jefferson City Magazine's "2026 City's Best."

Primrose-Jefferson City is a great place to live. I have been here three months and love it. The residents are all very friendly and welcoming. The activities director, Mariah is so accommodating and hardworking. She always makes sure you feel comfortable.

My Mother-in-law was a long-term resident at Primrose in Jefferson City. She lived on the independent side for a number of years but as her health declined she transitioned to the assisted living section. As her health continued to decline the family was concerned that she would need to move to a skilled nursing facility but the staff at Primrose informed us that Hospice could be called in to assist and thereby allow her to spend her final months and days in familiar surroundings. We were so very fortunate to have several days at the end for the family to gather to say good byes. The staff was so attentive to her needs and to the needs of the family at the difficult time we were experiencing. Some of the staff even stayed after their shift was over that final night and sat with the family as the end neared. The love and care of the staff was very obvious. Laura Stratman
