Hearthstone Senior Living

My father-in-law was at Hearthstone and I am compelled to leave this review. I don't recommend this assisted living facility. They are tremendously understaffed which translated into us finding him sitting in his own filth, and his health declining. His clothing and undergarments were rarely changed, even though we were paying for this service. It was pretty heartbreaking. It wasn't the staff's fault, they were running around frantically all the time, doing the best they could. Also concerning were the safety issues. His shower head was broken which resulted in water all over his bathroom floor and he is a high fall risk. It took 3 weeks to get this fixed. When we asked about the status, they had no record of the repair. I see older 5 star reviews for Prestige at Hearthstone but it sounds like they were all tied to a prior Director Tim Jennings. He is no longer with Hearthstone and the quality of care is not there any more.

From one family to another, please do not place your loved one at Prestige Senior Living at Hearthstone's assisted living facility. We moved our 85 year old father there in late 2023 and after major care concerns, we moved him out 9 weeks later. Medications were terribly mismanaged -- one ordered prescription wasn't given at all for many weeks until we figured it out, some medications were lost, etc. The leadership team does not have the skills to run a facility like this, and their communication is poor to nonexistent. Frustratingly, within 2 weeks of depositing our $2500 move-in fee, they increased my dad’s cost of care by $1000/month (!!!), wouldn’t provide a reasonable explanation as to why (despite our attempts to discuss), and didn’t bother to actually provide the care that they were billing us for. He was dirty with clothing/undergarments unchanged nearly every time we visited. It wasn't ALL bad, though. The kitchen team was lovely and many caregivers and med techs were very kind to my dad. I have no doubt they were doing the best they could, being short-staffed and under the current leadership. But, in the end, we had to move my dad to a better facility right down the street (Avista Senior Living) and it's night and day (and much less expensive!). What a relief to our family to be out of the Hearthstone nightmare.
