Prairie House Assisted Living & Memory Care

Do not put your loved one in this facility. Our loved one was in the memory care portion for 14 long months. The care he received was below the standard of care. If he fell they said it took three people to get him up (he’s 6’2”, 230 lbs.) and they did not have the staff to do it. Twice they had to call the fire departnent for help just to get him up off the floor in the evening. They had him on so much medication he was like a zombie. They never changed his Depends, his room reeked of urine. We had to throw everything of his away bc it smelled so bad. When he moved out there was a week left of paid rent and they would not refund the week bc they said his room was in bad shape. It was in bad shape due to their negligence! He also got out one time and test drove a pickup, he was gone for two hours. Memory care is a locked down facility!!

The memory care has been wonderful for my mother in law. She has a calm, peaceful atmosphere around her. She has made many new friends. And remeets them each day!! The activities directors (are awesome!) keep them busy with "pool parties" "chicken days" "ice cream socials" and lots of fun activities. Families are welcome to join in the fun. It's fun to stop by and just have a chat with my mother in law when she is just sitting around the table with her friends! Some of the conversations can be soooo funny! Good times can be had by all!

Great home! Excellent staff. Kim Evans the Business Manager is very knowledgeable and helps me anytime I have a question!

We’ve had loved ones at this facility for several years and I want to commend staff members for their conscientious care and love for them. And any time there was a health issue we were promptly called and updated. (We live out of State.) These people really have a heart for their jobs. In particular, I would like to commend Delle Barclay, Crissy Lett and Shawna. Also, I want to acknowledge Kim Evans, the Business Office Manager. Any time we had a question or issue about our monthly bill she worked closely with us to quickly resolve it. A true professional.

Do not place your loved ones in this facility. My grandparents were here years ago, and both passed away here. Anytime I drove across the state to visit them, I found both them and their rooms in progressively worse states of being (mice droppings, trash left out, physically filthy: dirt under nails, in soiled and old clothing, and increasingly more depressed). They both struggled with dementia, and my grandmother was a combative and difficult resident, but they "handled" her behavior by sedating her with drugs, which led to her going into a coma and passing. My grandpa was a sweetheart until the end, and I witnessed several instances of CNAs being impatient and unkind toward him. It's heartbreaking to watch loved ones deteriorate with aging and to trust a facility to care for them, but for them to fail to do so well.
