During my search of many independent living communities in the Myrtle Beach area, Portside at Grand Dunes got my attention immediately. Now as a resident of 3 weeks, I am confident that Portside is my new home. I feel welcomed every time I walk in the front door, at the meals, and activities. The residents and staff are caring and respectful of each other. One thing I have noticed is that everyone speaks to each other with a smile on there face. I love it at Portside!

From my first tour right through my decision to move to Portside, my experience has been wonderful. Every time I met with Susan I had my list of questions and she answered every one with candor, enthusiasm, understanding and clarity. If she didn’t have the answer she would find it. All the staff I met were friendly and helpful. Most staff remembered my name after only hearing it one time. This is remarkable with a name like mine! So I’m eager for my next adventure to begin.

Response from the owner

Thank you, Marelda, for your thoughtful review and for sharing your experience with Portside at Grande Dunes. We’re so glad to hear how positive your journey has been from that very first tour through your decision to move in. It means a lot to know that Susan was able to answer your questions so thoroughly and help you feel comfortable and confident along the way. And we love hearing that our associates made you feel so welcomed and remembered, that’s exactly the kind of experience we hope to create. We’re genuinely excited for you as you begin this next chapter and become part of the community here at Portside at Grande Dunes. Welcome home, we’re so glad you’re here. Sincerely, The Portside at Grande Dunes Team

I moved my mother to Portside Aug of 2024. I was trying so hard to keep her in Asst Living that I was drawn in by its beautiful facility and glitz. Within 72 hours of getting her into her new apartment I was told she would have to move to Memory Care. I was lef to believe there would be round the clock supervision and quality on-site nursing staff. I quickly realized the facility "doctor" was not a doctor but either a PA or NP, I STILL don't know which Dr. Nikki is. It took me two weeks to get her last name...to the point I had to change mom's insurance. Within 6 months, my mother oresented with difficulty breathing that I learned only from visiting her and immediately taking her to the ER. She was diagnosed with A-fib and the MC nurse told me to not bring her back when the hispital wanted ti release her 48 hours later as "they did not [even have EMT's] on weekends and were not abke to care for her". What should Never have happened, as I later was told her breathing irregular had been noticed and not reported, went from a two day stay, to Seven. I arranged for her to move to another facility. She had a massive stroke within four months and passed away. This is a long post, but only the tip of what I wish I could share. If your loved one likes glitz, Great!...But if they need ANY medical care, This is Not the place for them. I Wish so badly I had read an honest review like this before I left her there. Two women in the short time we were in the ER had the same type of experience. Choose wisely and God Bless!
