Pinecrest Retirement Community Assisted Living Unit

The facilities, grounds and people of Pinecrest could not be better. They all rate a perfect '10.' What is very inadequate is the food, particularly the daily entrees. I order about 5 meals a week from the kitchen. About 20% of the entrees are good or acceptable. The remaining 80% are completely unacceptable. Poorly prepared (eg, root vegetables not properly sautéed), badly seasoned food or meat too tough to cut except with a very sharp knife is often inedible. The root vegetables in soups almost universally are undercooked. I've lived at Pinecrest for about a year and am astounded that the residents have not openly rebelled over the poor food quality. I sat down with the Ex. Director after living here for a month and explained my complaints as completely as I was able. It was apparent that he does not eat the food here. He responded that they get very few complaints about the food. Again this shocks me. Their system for charging for food forces the residents to pay for a month of entrees if they order any at all.

I have been at Pinecrest 26 years and loved every day. The decision that Loyd and I made to come in 2000 was one of the greatest ones we could have ever made. I have used every department and been given nothing but the best service. I have known many of you for a very long time and grown to love you. All of you really do care. Thanks to all of you for your great service and support and dedication. I would not reside anywhere else .

From nursing and therapy to dining, activities, housekeeping, maintenance, administration, and every team member behind the scenes, everyone works together with one goal—to provide exceptional care and make residents feel at home.
