The Phoenix at James Creek

Last August I moved my mom from NY to GA. I researched 10 different Assisted living/memory care facilities close to my home. After careful consideration we chose Phoenix at James Creek. I am so happy I did. Phoenix is always clean and well kept inside and out. They have a beautiful outside common area and a covered area in the front. My mother loves to go outside, look at the beautiful flowers and talk with the other residents. From the start, the tour with Josh was wonderful. All of our questions and concerns were answered by Matt and Josh. The staff is wonderful with my mom. She is well taken care of and happy. The staff always communicates with me if anything changes or is needed for mom. From the care my mother receives to the reasonable price you won’t find a better place for your loved one. Peace of mind in this caretaker journey is priceless. Thank you Phoenix at James Creek.

I moved my mom into The Phoenix at James Creek a few months before COVID. At the time, I was told by a gentleman who said his mom lives there that the food was one of the best things about the place -- and that's one of the main reasons I chose it. Unfortunately, that couldn't be further from the truth. The food is absolutely terrible. I wouldn't serve some of it to anyone. The kitchen seems to go through cooks constantly, and the meals look and taste like something thrown together with no care at all. I've posted pictures so you can see for yourself -- what they are calling "lasagna" on the menu. It looks like it is missing marinara sauce and was filled with something that could pass for cat pate. You can't even tell that it is what it is. Also, do you serve corn and broccoli with lasagna? My mom sends me photos of her meals all the time, and it's heartbreaking. I've resorted to taking her grocery shopping so she can have something decent to eat. I genuinely feel sorry for the residents who don't have family nearby to help them. It's a shame because the facility itself is clean and the staff are kind and caring. But the food situation is unacceptable -- and it's been this way for years now. If management doesn't fix the kitchen problem, it overshadows everything else that is good about the place.

The facility is beautiful, clean and welcoming. The staff is amazing as they truly love and attend so attentively to the residents. By far the shining star is Victoria, as her professionalism, knowledge, care, insight and attention to detail is above reproach. I highly recommend, if your loved one needs special care.
