The Peaks Assisted Living Center

We just got here Margaret Warren my 93-year-old mother part Of Tru Pace from a facility that was completely Understaffed and unreliable I just wanna take a minute to thank Amanda Klein for making this happen she was on top of it and so so helpful so thank you Amanda I'll be back to the review the facility later as we're here longer But upon first impression I feel like I can go home and relax and not have to advocate for my mother full-time

My Mom spent several weeks at the Peaks and really enjoyed the level of care and high caliber staff. Her words “I truly did not believe I would walk again when I arrived.Thank you for believing in me and your excellent care. You are truly amazing “

This is the first rehab place I’ve ever been in where they truly care about you and focus not only on the physical but the emotional needs as well. They are very hands on and work in perfect sync with you and the other therapists to meet your needs. They know all or at least most of their patients and even try to remember everybody’s name. If they are unable to answer any questions you may have they will find someone that can. They are very good at keeping you and everyone else in a good flow from breakfast time, physical therapy, to crafts and even a nap or two. I literally adore, respect and appreciate the staff here.

This has been a NIGHTMARE. I came for rehab after leaving the hospital with a broken ankle on the right and a fracture on the left ankle. I have to keep my foot elevated. There was no recliner in my room, so it was the first thing I asked about, and I was told they would take care of it. 4 days later, as I discharged myself and escaped this horribly run place, still no recliner, so the entire time I had to spend in bed. Incompetent help, if you can get it. They would yell at me if I took myself to the bathroom, but I was safer than with someone who didn’t know what they were doing. I would have to wait 40-50 min after I requested pain meds. I was at a 9-10 pain level almost the whole time I was there! They decided on a “pain regimen” for me without consulting ME!! They are a rehab center that doesn’t have ice packs that won't leak all over your bandaging. I asked during the one PT session I had there in 4 days, to learn how to manage stairs. They had one suggestion using a wooden box that they had built. They had no suggestions where to get something like that. I’m the kind of person who would have a book of 6 different ways to navigate with every injury and the proper equipment to do so, and where to get it. They offered nothing like that. I am not a complainer, but honestly, I haven’t seen a place run so poorly in my life. I came here ready for some PT and to get better, I escaped this place SO that can happen. Believe me, I am sparing you the moment-to-moment incompetence. Many people came into my room with apologies and ZERO results. In 24 hours at home, I had my pain level to an even 6 where I could function, without more pain meds, just proper timing. I found a lift recliner chair and had it delivered. I am safer at home.

I have had several experiences with the Peaks that were positive, but unfortunately since no one including the director of nursing will follow up with me I will post my concerning/terrible recent experience here. My mom is severely disabled and was staying at the Peaks for respite on their long term care unit. When I came to pick her up, I noticed she was in a gown and the clean clothing I had packed for her was basically untouched. She was soaked in urine and it was clear that had been the case for a long time as there was urine covering the sheets and bed she was in. This indicated to me that they felt it was easiest to keep her in gowns during her stay and just leave her unattended all day to soil herself so that they would not have to keep the bathroom schedule she typically is on or do laundry. The worst of this was that she did not have her call light accessible to her at all. She wanted to use the bathroom and after turning on her call light for her and waiting 20 minutes I had to hunt someone down myself to help her. It took about 45 minutes total for her nurse to come and give me paperwork to sign her out. I asked three different staff members to have the director of nursing call me to follow up on this but a week later no one has reached out. My mother’s social worker also contacted the facility so we could speak to them directly about this and no one has talked with her either. This facility is familiar with me and knows I will address issues if they come up, and this is the way they treated my mother. I am worried for the people who live there full time and will be reporting to the DHS since the staff at the peaks do not follow up on concerns.
