Oakmont of Camarillo

Corporate structure quite greedy. . Exposure to abusive staff and no protection from abusive residents. Escaped after 18 mos. Reactivated PTSD. Needed therapy to recover from my experiences there. Was sad to see how awful they treated staff, especially cleaning staff. poorly built with ants invading frequently. Now back at home. All I can say is choose wisely. Scheduled activities frequently late or done with poorly trained staff. Activities often cancelled.

Oakmont of Camarillo is a stellar senior living community because of the staff from the top down! There is no denying the grounds, interior community spaces, and apartments are beautiful; however, it is the warmth, love and care from the employees who run it. When my dad's dementia worsened and my mom's health was suffering due to caring for him and managing the house, it was clear that a change was imminent. My mom decided the best path was to look for an apartment in a senior community within memory care. We toured two local facilities and Oakmont was the third. We arrived unannounced. Emilia enthusiastically welcomed us and gave us a thorough tour, heard our story and answered all of our questions. She exudes warmth, love and care for everyone that crosses a path with her. Her intuition is off the charts. During the tour, we saw one apartment available in Traditions (memory care) and we felt compelled to secure it on the spot. The process for getting my dad assessed, moved and settled into his apartment was handled by every staff member with a compassionate heart and competent mind. There are many people to thank. Here are a few I'd like to mention: Mark, Emilia, Teiliana, Ana, Nohemi, Daisy, Mason, Melissa, Carlos, Jesus and Kendall. A week after touring, we learned about a studio apartment available in AL (assisted living). My mom realized that Oakmont would be a great place for her to land too. At the end of 2025, my parents' living situation at home seemed grim and unsustainable. Since moving into Oakmont at the start of 2026, my mom is THRIVING and my dad is being well taken care of and participating in activities which he didn't do while living at home. Because of the move to Oakmont, my mom is emotionally, mentally and physically healthy. The combination of being within walking distance to my dad's apartment; meeting a lot of lovely, fun and supportive new friends; having kind, competent and friendly staff members to lean on; participate in a slew of interesting and engaging activities and live in a Mediterranean style property has been nothing but positive to her well being. Thank you to all of the med techs, caregivers, activity directors (Briana, Daisy and Ina), Chef Michael, dining servers and cleaning team members. And, thank you to the concierge desk team (Madison, Jennifer, Kevin and Nancy). You are the first impression to residents and visitors and your smiles, joy and attentiveness are lasting ones. My parents live 250 miles away, so there is peace of mind knowing they are at Oakmont of Camarillo. I will continue to sing the praises of where my parents are living and thriving.

Oakmont Of Camarillo has a wonderful community feel, where everyone feels they belong, The staff are compassionate and caring, going above and beyond to meet the needs of every resident. The Activity director schedules, engaging activities, and wonderful weekly outings for the residents to enjoy. The food is also really good! When misunderstandings happen, the staff and director work to solve it and make it right.. My dad regularly tells me how grateful he is to be part of the Oakmont community and we feel the same.

There are not enough words to express our gratitude to Briana McElmurry, the activities director at Oakmont of Camarillo. She is the best ever!! She is creative, hardworking, kind and loving. Sometimes Mom has difficulties participating but Bri always goes out of her way to help her. She never wants mom to miss out. We appreciate Bri so much! Thank you Bri from the bottom of our hearts!
