This facility literally ignored my brothers cries for help, he pounded on the wall for 8 HOURS trying to get someone. ANYONE to come help him because he was stuck between the beed and wall. They failed to bring pain meds, not are where those meds went. the food portions were literally enough to feed a toddler, not a full-grown adult. Because my brother was left stuck in between the bed and wall, and then left for another week, after I complained, my brother had a tele health appointment with his surgeon. LUCKILY the surgeon realized my brother was in severe distress, believing her had a stoke. The Dr. Called 911. The ambulance showed up and took him to the hospital. My brother needed IMMEDIATE SURGERY on his C-SPINE. The failure at the McKinley care assisted living destroyed the surgery that he had in January that he was trying to recover from. My brother was not taken to dr appts, was not given meds, was not looked after within thee walls of this disaster. Luckily my brother OTTO is back in the hospital, had emergency surgery, and is stable getting the care he needs and deserves. DO NOT allow your loved ones to land at this place!!! Literally, my brother could have easily ended up paralyzed OR WORSE, due to the FAILURE of this staff. I called my brothers case worker prior to his dr. having the tele health and voiced my extreme concerns. There is NO THERAPY that's happens at this place! They literally do not pass out the pain meds, not sure where the meds are actually going! My brother sent me a photo of people doing drugs in the doorway!

Our team documented and responded appropriately to reported incidents and changes in condition, including coordinating medical evaluation and emergency services when needed. We understand that medical situations can be stressful and emotional for families. Absolutely awful place to keep your loved ones, they just do not care about patients at all. Just a money hungry company who couldn’t care less about how your loved ones are treated or taken care of, won’t give them medication they are required to take. Won’t do basic care needs for patients that cannot take care of themselves like showering, cutting toenails. Will just throw them in a room with nothing to do all day and give them a cold sandwich. They should absolutely be ashamed of themselves. Talking to them gets you no where, they will just apologize and not do anything about it. They need shut down asap.

Hi Jacquelyn, McKinley Care Assisted Living is licensed through the State of Alaska to provide 24-hour care for individuals, including medication management. The nursing staff are required to assess and document all medication assistance (as per Alaska law) and take this responsibility very seriously. If you have concerns about a family member or friend, we encourage you to reach out personally to the leadership team at McKinley Care. Our records show you have not done this, and we are unaware of any scenario where a resident did not receive his or her medication in a timely and lawful manner. Place needs shut down, the staff is absolutely useless. They neglect patients, let mental patients just leave the facility in the middle of winter and freeze outside without letting anyone know. Just a matter of time before they kill someone’s loved one. The place is also absolutely disgusting, everywhere smells like pee. Maybe if the staff would get up from their chairs and actually work this place wouldn’t be such a hazard of a place to have your family.

This is the by far the worst assisted living facility in the state of Alaska. Staff is beyond lazy. They let patients with mental disabilities run around with no supervision. If you have any family members there, please attempt to get them out as soon as possible. The staff there is beyond useless
