RED FLAG - I want to share my experience with Lone Mountain Memory Care so other families can make an informed decision. Our mother had fallen and fractured her pelvis. After a hospital and physical therapy stay, we knew she needed around-the-clock care. This was also the assessment of the Lone Mountain when they met with our mom and the physical therapy team prior to her move in. After visiting multiple facilities in the Scottsdale and Phoenix area, we chose Lone Mountain Memory Care based on their reputation and promises of quality care. Sadly, our mother was there for only eight days before we had to take her back to the hospital. She fell multiple times while in the care of Lone Mountain Memory Care. During these eight days, we had to make multiple trips and phone calls to the team to follow-up and make check-in calls which were promised. With these additional falls and not getting the early medical help she required led to her passing. They did not have the staff to follow proper procedures and contact the appropriate medical professionals in a timely manner. Lone Mountain Memory Care could not fulfill their care commitment and proper follow-through with medical escalation procedures. We met with the Director, and we outlined the situation and requested our deposit back of $5,000 for her eight-day stay. We would complete the month’s rent and were given good assurances our deposit would be returned. After many phone calls to the facility, some 30 days later, we were informed we would not receive a return of the deposit. In short, we strongly urge families to thoroughly research and carefully consider all options before placing a loved one in this facility. They will over promise and underdeliver.

I want to share my experience with Lone Mountain Memory Care so other families can make an informed decision. Our mother fell and fractured her pelvis in four places. We knew she needed around-the-clock care, so after visiting multiple facilities, we chose Lone Mountain Memory Care based on their reputation and promises of quality care. Sadly, our mother was there for only eight days before we had to take her back to the hospital. She fell twice while at the facility during her 8 days stay. While I do not blame Lone Mountain for her falls, I do hold them responsible for the lack of proper follow-through and medical escalation. She left their care with more than twice the number of fractures she had upon arrival, and it was the blunt force trauma to her torso — sustained while in their care — that ultimately led to her death. Had Lone Mountain followed proper procedures and contacted appropriate medical professionals sooner, she could have been spared days of unnecessary pain, and there is a real possibility she might still be with us. We trusted them to care for our mother because we are not medical professionals. In the end, I was the one who intervened and took her to the hospital — and she never came back. To make matters worse, Lone Mountain charged over $11,000 for her eight-day stay and is refusing to return our $5,000 deposit. I strongly urge families to thoroughly research and carefully consider all options before placing a loved one in this facility.
Response from the owner
We are very sorry for your loss and recognize how difficult this experience has been for your family. And, we appreciate you sharing your perspective. To clarify, your mother’s initial fall and resulting fractures occurred prior to her residency at Lone Mountain Memory Care. As you noted, the community was not responsible for those events. While it is deeply unfortunate that she experienced additional health challenges during her time with us, situations involving complex medical conditions can evolve quickly, even with appropriate care and attention. At the time of admission, our residency agreement clearly outlines that Lone Mountain is not a 1:1 care environment. We provide supportive care within a community setting, and for residents requiring continuous, individualized medical supervision, a higher level of care may be more appropriate. The Residency Agreement is intentionally structured as month-to-month to provide flexibility, recognizing that care needs can change unexpectedly. Regarding fees, the one-time community fee is associated with services provided prior to and at the time of move-in, including coordination, preparation, and onboarding support. As such, it is earned upon admission and is not dependent on the length of stay. In addition, all ongoing rent and monthly charges were discontinued as of the date your mother’s belongings were removed, ensuring no charges were incurred beyond that point. We also want to acknowledge your statement that the community was not responsible for your mother’s falls. That distinction is important, and we appreciate your recognition of it. While we respect that everyone is entitled to their perspective, we believe it is important to note that prior to this review, there was a request made to the community for a financial payment in exchange for not posting negatively on social media. The review was posted after the community declined that request. Using the threat of posting negative reviews containing inaccurate information in an effort to compel the community to meet your demands is inappropriate. Our team remains committed to providing compassionate care and clear communication to every resident and family we serve. We wish your family peace during this difficult time.

Moving my Mom to Lone Mountain was the best decision we could have made. She is very happy with her private apt., and the freedom to move throughout the building. The community is designed with access to two outdoor areas, for activities or rest, in addition to several private comfortable areas to talk with visitors. The building is kept very clean. My Mom has made many friends and loves to participate in the creative activities that are offered inside and outside of the community. She loves the staff, and receives excellent care on a daily basis. They are very caring to each resident, and very responsive when individual needs occur. I am so pleased that she is happy and living her best life. She's so busy, it's tough to get ahold of her to catch up - but I wouldn't want it any other way.

Lone Mountain Memory Care is, without a doubt, my top choice for memory care. Every aspect of this community reflects thoughtfulness and dedication. The staff is truly exceptional—compassionate, knowledgeable, and deeply committed to the well-being of the residents. They have a profound understanding of dementia and Alzheimer’s care, which is evident in everything they do. The building itself was designed with such care, offering a layout that is not only functional but also inviting and supportive for residents. Their superior activities and outings create an environment where residents are not just existing but thriving. It’s inspiring to see residents who are happy, engaged, and truly living life to the fullest. I have complete trust in Lone Mountain to care for the families I work with, and I always look forward to collaborating with their incredible team. They set the standard for memory care, and I cannot recommend them highly enough. Jamie Bond, Owner of NorthStar Senior Solutions
