My 97 year old Mother with advanced Alzheimer’s disease stayed here for 5 days so we could get some much needed respite care. We were terribly disappointed in the care she received. Here’s what I observed in those 5 days: 1. Terrible communication between Angela the owner and her staff. Staff didn’t even know my Mom was coming or her detailed care needs 2. Pregnant staff members not able to do transfers and lifts for my Mom and they were the only staff member on duty 3. Staff were unvaccinated for Covid 19 and no testing protocols being adhered to 4. Plumbing was frozen, shower didn’t work 5. Staff didn’t know how to cook or follow the menu 6. Angela the owner assumed that her CNAs would be able to read a 6 page electronic care log, understand the care needs, and be able to perform duties 7. No supervision or very little supervision. The owner was away most of the time working her other job as an OT and the house manager was only there 1x during the 5 days my Mom was there 8. Owner Angela assured me there would be consistent care and training of caregiver team regarding my Mom’s care needs and when I asked the staff if they had been briefed, trained or instructed on my Mom’s care needs they hadn’t been even talked to. If your loved one is high functioning and you are able to constantly supervise their care this place might be for you. For my husband and I this place was sorely lacking supervision, support, and staff training. I would NEVER put my Mom back there.
Response from the owner
Dear Kim, Thank you for sharing your feedback about your mother’s stay with us. I sincerely apologize for the experience you and your family had; it is not reflective of the high standards of care we strive to maintain at Legacy Pines. As a brand new, family-owned business we took these matters very seriously and addressed them thoroughly with our team. We have since implemented new policies and procedures, hired and fully trained a new management team, including a full-time Registered Nurse to oversee the day to day operations and provide high quality care to our residents. We appreciate your feedback as it helps us improve and grow as a new business to better serve the elderly population in our local community. Best regards, Angela Owner (507) 459-4190
