My loved one has been living at Legacy Heights Senior Living Community, and I just want to say how grateful I am for the people there. The staff treats them with real kindness — not the “forced smile” kind, but the genuine, patient, everyday care that makes a huge difference. The building is clean, comfortable, and feels calm. My loved one has settled in better than I expected, and I can tell they feel safe and looked after. The nurses keeps me in the loop of my aunts care and I never feel like I’m bothering anyone when I have questions or need an update. It’s not easy trusting others with someone you care about, but this team has given us peace of mind. I’m beyond thankful for the staff who show up every day and make the place feel like a family, not just a facility.

My family had a very disappointing experience with Legacy Heights while my grandmother was a resident. From the beginning, many staff members made even the simplest requests feel like an inconvenience. It often seemed as though providing basic care was treated as a burden rather than part of their responsibility. Communication was consistently poor, and we always had to follow up multiple times to get answers or assistance. Unfortunately, the communication issues appeared to stem from the top. Our interactions with the Executive Director and the leadership team were often just as unresponsive as our interactions with other staff. It became clear that the lack of communication, accountability, and urgency started with leadership and trickled down throughout the facility. While it's easy to blame staffing changes or new ownership, our concerns existed before those transitions and continued throughout my grandmother's stay. One of our biggest concerns was medication management. There were multiple occasions when my grandmother was given another resident's medication, which is completely unacceptable. There were also several times when the facility ran out of her prescribed medications without notifying our family. Had we been informed, we could have easily brought her medications from home to ensure she didn't go without them. What hurt the most was the lack of compassion. My grandmother was hospitalized multiple times, was eventually placed on hospice, and ultimately passed away. At no point did anyone from Legacy Heights check on her or our family. We had to repeatedly ask for move-out instructions instead of receiving proactive communication during an already difficult time. I believe families deserve to know what our experience was like. Entrusting a loved one to an assisted living facility requires tremendous faith, and unfortunately, Legacy Heights did not provide the level of care, communication, accountability, or compassion that my grandmother deserved. To be fair, the facility itself is clean. If your loved one is largely independent and requires no assistance, it may be a suitable option. However, based on our experience, I would not recommend Legacy Heights to anyone, especially for someone who needs any care, medication management, or responsive communication with their family.
Response from the owner
Melanie, thank you for taking the time to share your concerns with us. I sincerely appreciate your honesty, and I am truly sorry that your recent experience has left you feeling that the care provided has fallen sort of your expectations and that our response has not been as timely as it should have been. Entrusting a loved one to our care requires tremendous faith, and when we do not meet that expectation, we understand how disappointing and frustrating that can be, Please know that your concerns have been heard and taken seriously. Providing compassionate, quality care is our highest priority, and I never want a resident or family member to feel that their concerns are not important. While there are times when our team is managing multiple urgent resident needs simultaneously, that should never prevent us from communicating promptly or ensuring that concerns are acknowledged and addressed. We recognize that timely communication is an essential part of excellent care. I have begun reviewing the concerns you shared with our leadership team and will be following up with the staff involved to better understand what occurred, identify any opportunities for improvement, and ensure that we are taking the appropriate corrective action, where needed. At Phoenix Senior Living, we are committed to learning from feedback and continuously improving the experience of every resident and family that we serve. I would love the opportunity to meet with you personally to discuss your concerns in greater detail. Your perspective is valuable, and I believe an open conversation would help us to better understand the steps we need to take to improve, in general. Thank you for bringing these matters to my attention. We value the trust that you have placed in us, and we remain committed to earning that trust everyday through compassionate care, accountability, and open communication. Ashley Beckett, Senior Executive Director.

My aunt was recently a resident at Legacy Heights Assisted Living /Memory Care facility. This facility provided compassionate care, love and support to her during the time she was there. Thank you to the Directors Chris and Alonda for their leadership and dedication to meeting all the needs of my Aunt. The receptionists Myrtle and Mary were welcoming and kind to visitors and residents. We appreciated the caregivers and all the staff. They all demonstrated patience, care and support during some difficult circumstances. Due to my Aunt’s decline in health, she needs to be moved to a skilled nursing facility. She misses the staff, maintenance guys, medical techs and care givers. Thanks to Sheila, Tempest, Rea, Rahel, Red, Demetris, and all of those who showed love to her. My prayers are with all the caregivers at this facility. Thanks for being a blessing to my aunt. Gail Jarrett

I can't say enough good things about Legacy Heights. I had to find a place for my stepfather when he started to decline at an independent living facility and I was lucky enough to meet with Monica and Chris at Legacy. The staff and administrators are amazing and they truly care about the residents and go above and beyond to make sure they're comfortable and well taken care of. I owe a special thank-you to Tonya. The Memory Care facility and the residents' rooms, are bright and welcoming. Unfortunately, my step-father passed away while he was there, but they managed his care at the end with dignity and love. My only regret is that I didn't know about Legacy when I was looking for a place for my mom a couple of years ago. I highly recommend Legacy Heights if you are looking for a great place for your loved one.
