My Father's final 18 months of life were greatly enhanced by his care at Homestead Living. We initially tried another facility with much frustration. It was a "fancy" place, new and shiny, but had very little knowledge of how to respectfully care for memory care patients. When an opening happened at Homestead, which was recommended by a friend, we took it. The difference was noted immediately - the staff ratio is excellent, every caregiver understands what comes with memory care, and they create an environment of love, family and understanding. I honestly never saw my Dad in his room, he was always out with others, engagin g when he could but always clean, dressed and respected. At previous location, we were told my Dad's behaviors were a problem. At homestead, his behaviors may have remained challenging, but they were never considered a problem. Homestead viewed his dementia as a way of understanding where a person is at, and how best to respect and support that. My extended family has 2 therapists and 2 nurses with experience in facilities, all of us were imporessed with his care. In my Dad's final days, Homestead worked with Hospice to provide the most peaceful passing, all while respecting family and Dad's dignity. Beyond his care, the billing and payment was straightforward, not to mention less than many other places. I would have paid much more for this level care. I miss my Dad, but I miss the people at Homestead too. Do not overlook this hidden gem.

My Mom moved here about 6 months ago. It was a godsend to our family. She had lived at two other places prior to moving here and this home understands the unique care required for someone with dementia. The environment is set up in a way to provide safety from falls (as much as possible) and elopement. They use medication as prescribed and try alternatives to medication for anxiety or aggitation. They have been very good at communication eventhough a lot of staffing changes have occurred in the past 6 months since she arrived. I feel like with the new changes in the past month they are moving in a very good direction. I visit a couple of times each week and find the environment welcoming, clean and caring for each resident. I highly recommend Homestead for anyone needing dementia care.
