Having been a senior living referral agent for 14 years, I want to say that Hacienda de Luna is one of the best care homes in Tucson. I am always looking for people in the senior industry that do their jobs for the right reasons....helping seniors stay safe and allowing them to live with dignity. The owner/manager/caregivers are the best and their prices are fair. I highly recommend this home!

The decision to entrust the full-time care of a loved one is not an easy one to make! Couple that with hearing so many stories from other people who have had negative experiences makes it even more difficult. We were faced with this late last year when my Dad’s health needs became more than we could handle. We were so fortunate to find Hacienda de Luna early on in our search. The empathy and understanding we received during that first tour from Lynn and Miranda, the owner and the manager, was comforting. What was even better was seeing first hand, day in and day out the level of compassion and care that he received from everyone. We always were made to feel welcome regardless of what time it was. We also heard from other residents who told us about stays at other locations that were not good and then they found this place and stayed. I cannot tell how much peace all this brought us! The day he passed away we shared genuine tears with his caregivers, we will never forget how we felt over those months!

My father was transferred to hospice care from the V.A. hospital about 3 weeks ago. He had been staying at a local Brookdale, and I thought I could just move him into the Brookdale memory care facility -- but the cost was prohibitive and I learned that the caregiver-patient ratio was not the best. A local adultt placement service specialist helped me to find Hacienda de Luna, and I could not be happier. The facility was small and family-like. Every time I came in, someone was making a home-cooked meal in the kitchen. The caregivers in the house my father was in (House 2) were professional, courteous and patient, even when he, in his dementia, pulled their hair as they tried to feed him. Amanda was especially outstanding in her care; she's someone who has a true vocation for the kind of work that she does, and she loves it, loves the people in her care. When my father finally passed away, the whole team was compassionate, willing to give us all the time we needed to stay with him after he passed, to take our time in emptying the room. This was both the most cost-effective option for my dad's care, and truly the best facility we could find. I will always be grateful to the kind people who helped my father spend his final days in comfort and peace.

My mom was here for the last 2 years of her Parkinson's journey. The place was always spotless, and the staff were friendly and helpful whenever I visited (even thinking of extra touches without me having to ask, like placing an extra chair in her room when they knew I was coming to visit.) They were very patient with the challenges of working with my mom (among other things, she was hard to hear/understand because of the Parkinson's limiting her jaw movement... I don't know how the staff managed to understand her as well as they did, frankly, because even as her daughter I struggled to understand her speech and she didn't have much use of her hands either to text/write etc. So she was a challenging case and they handled this with so much tact, class, and patience, allowing my mom to retain her dignity in a tough situation). They were also patient and accomodating with my mother's dietary requests and preferences (which were ever-changing). They were more patient than I would have been, frankly! My mom was a woman who liked things a certain way if you know what I mean, and they did their best to work around her preferences whenever possible. (To be honest, I thought my mom's special requests were a bit much at times, but they did their best to accommodate wherever possible.) God bless them for their patience! Miranda did a great job of communicating updates. Best of all, the place always had a peaceful, calm feel. (This makes a difference, some places may cost less but I think when the caregivers have a peaceful calm vibe this is good for your loved one. I observed that caregivers at cheaper places seemed more stressed/tense/harried. We ended up being glad we choose to increase the budget to get my mom here. ) Having a loved one need assisted living is never an easy thing, but HDL staff made it so much more painless. Thank you HDL for getting our family through that situation.

I was faced with 2 major surgeries and had to find placement for my husband who had Alzheimer's. A friend recommended Hacienda de Luna and fortunately they had an opening. From the moment we walked in the door I knew I had found the right place. It is very spacious, always clean and neat and the meals are homecooked by the staff. All of the staff who cared for my husband were superb and truly created a wonderful home environment for the residents. They made sure he had everything he needed and did it in a manner that was caring and loving. Not only did they care for him but they provided me the the support I needed as well. I can't thank them enough for their compassion and concern for both of us. If you are looking for a place for your loved one this would be it!
