Dear Staff and Residents at Golden Age, Thank you all for being my mother's extended family during the eight years she called Golden Age home. When she first arrived, she was very clear about her independence, drawing on her experience as a former nursing home administrator. She enjoyed the parties—especially the Christmas season—and I want to thank the staff and volunteers for making the holidays so special for the residents. As my mother’s needs changed, the care she received was exceptional. I especially want to thank Nicole, who cared for her like family, and Lucy, for the love she showed my mother before her move to nursing care. I also want to recognize Lupe and Marilyn for their kindness and constant willingness to help. The sense of community at Golden Age is truly unique. The residents feel like family and are always there for one another. I will never forget the resident who offered me a hug and a shoulder to cry on while I was preparing for my mother’s departure. As a chaplain who regularly visits residents here, I’ve had the honor of seeing how deeply the staff care, not just for—but about—the people who call this place home. Nicole, the Executive Director, leads with both heart and intention. She takes the time to truly listen and respond with genuine compassion. Lucy, the administrator, brings the same level of thoughtful care and attentiveness to her role, creating a calm and supportive environment for both residents and their families. Kristi, the Activity Director, brings energy and joy into every corner of the facility, and the many dedicated volunteers add that extra layer of love and personal connection that makes Golden Age so unique. What stands out most is how well the staff know the residents—not just their needs, but their stories, personalities, and preferences. This is a place where people are seen and valued, and where their well-being is always the top priority.
