My Step Father was moved here after an experience at a close by facility which is where his untimely demise started. Alexa was in charge of his admission process and she was so nice and made it sound like we had finally found a place that he would be taken care of. I’m not sure if Alexa is completely aware of the daily happenings at this place…He had a fractured hip when he arrived in January 2026 and he died 2 weeks later. He was heavily medicated by the nurse at CO PACE and allowed to be highly medicated, by this facility. By the time I was able to reverse this decision, it was too late; he never regained his regular mental awareness that he had the day he was admitted. (January 30, 2026) Thank God for Austin, his caretake here. If it wasn’t for him, my Step Father, me and my family would have been alone and uncared for during the entire 2 weeks. When Austin was there, he took care of my Step Father. When Austin wasn’t there, I’m not sure anyone saw to my Step Father’s needs. It’s as if management, Gabrielle and CO PACE nurse, Brittany, had a mission to make sure my Step Father passed away as quick as possible and sadly, he did. The day before he passed, his daughter and I cleaned and cut the food from his beard, (the staff wanted to just shave his face) removed food that was still inside of his mouth, cleaned the grime off of his teeth and attempted to clean up his soiled body. When he passed the next day, my mom was with him because she wouldn’t leave. Austin took care of both of them until his shift ended and then no one checked on either of them. My mom had to call the front desk from her phone in his room and ask for someone to proceed with next steps which wasn’t a swift, timely or compassionate process. When I went to move his belongings out of his room later that day, no one offered condolences or assistance. Mission accomplished, Gabrielle and Gardens “Care” Center at Saddle Rock. You should truly be ashamed of yourselves. May God have Mercy on you all.

Response from the owner

Vic, We are sincerely sorry for the loss of your stepfather and recognize how difficult this experience has been for your family. That said, your review presents a number of conclusions that simply are not supported by the facts. Your stepfather was admitted to our community after sustaining a fractured hip—a life-altering injury that had already significantly impacted his health. The purpose of his admission was to provide a comfortable, supportive environment where he could receive compassionate care. Given the severity of his condition, it is fair to ask why a transfer was made at that stage, rather than suggesting that the facility responsible for caring for him during his final days somehow caused the outcome. While we cannot discuss an individual’s medical care or treatment decisions in a public forum, we can say that medication decisions are made by licensed medical providers—not by our community. Our staff’s responsibility is to carry out those medical orders while providing personal care, hygiene, nutrition, repositioning, comfort measures, and compassionate support. Your review overlooks the countless hours our caregivers spent attending to your stepfather’s needs. Much of that care occurred throughout the day, overnight, and at times when family members were not present. Our team remained committed to preserving his dignity and comfort during what was an extraordinarily difficult stage of his life. Accusing our staff of having “a mission” to hasten someone’s death is a serious allegation that is both false and deeply hurtful to professionals who have dedicated their careers to caring for vulnerable seniors. We stand behind our team and the compassionate care they provided. We again extend our condolences to your family and wish you peace as you continue to grieve.

Our family is deeply grateful to the entire team at Gardens Care at Saddle Rock for the exceptional care they provided my dad over the last 13 months of his life. Every member of the team—from the caregivers and dietary staff to the leadership team—was genuinely invested in his well-being, dignity, comfort, and safety. Throughout his stay, I witnessed compassionate, attentive care at all hours of the day and night. As his needs increased and he entered the final chapter of his life, the staff continued to care for him with remarkable kindness, respect, and unwavering compassion. I am especially thankful for the love and support they also extended to my mom. She was my dad's fiercest advocate and never left his side, and the team cared for her just as thoughtfully as they cared for him. "Thank you" hardly seems adequate to express our appreciation. Knowing my dad was surrounded by people who truly cared brought our family tremendous comfort during an incredibly difficult time. We will always be grateful to everyone at Gardens Care at Saddle Rock for the difference they made in my dad's life and in ours.
