Essex Meadows

My wife's parents lived at Essex Meadows for many years - A great organization. They enjoyed living there and we enjoyed our visits. The care was exceptional.

I like the comfortable environment and positive nature of people at Essex Meadows. A few of my favorite activities are the winter walks on trails of the property and adjoining preserve; swimming in our indoor salt-water pool; and attending weekly current events discussions led by a director who is well-prepared with challenging questions and up-to-the-minute news topics. As a relatively new resident, I find one of the best ways to get to know people is over a meal. The dinners here are delicious with lots of choices served by a great staff. Sandy M -- Resident

Sad as it was to be leaving Essex Meadows following the passing of my father, the friendly help of folks there made the effort clear and smooth. A good experience overall.

Essex Meadows is unique among Continuing Care (Life Care) retirement communities. It is located on 104 acres of woodlands which allows a large garden area with raised beds and hiking opportunities. The size, about 250 independent residents, and a 45 bed Health Center, is ideal for getting to know not only all the residents, but the staff. The food is superb. With the exception of those living in six duplexes and a single unit, when the weather is poor, the complete facility is available walking inside. There are a variety of activities which significantly contribute to the residents mental and physical well being. It would be a huge mistake if you did not visit here, and compare with other communities.

Moving to Essex Meadows was the best decision I ever made after spinal surgery at the age of 77. My life is meaningful, useful and rewarding. I am now 86 and still thriving.
