Unclean conditions, bad staff and worse management

My mother, with dementia and weak health, moved from her accident prone former facility into this wonderful place and her health significantly improved, no more medical emergencies, and is thriving. She is happier and productive, attending various group activities (unlike to old place). Best decision ever made, no worries and very pleased with staff with excellent communication (I live 900 miles away) and cheerful attitudes. My life is much easier with mom in great hands.

I needed to place my aunt and mom in a memory care facility but I wanted them in the same room or right next to one another. Dougherty Ferry had the perfect setting with 2 rooms back to back. They each now have their own room and bathroom but are within a few feet of one another. The rooms are smaller than they are used to but have everything they each need, including a nice, large bathroom. They have their own thermostats, which is perfect, as my aunt is always cold. Their windows look out into a cute courtyard and I know they will enjoy the spring coming soon with flowers and birds. The staff is attentive and pleasant and they are getting the nutrition they need with three daily meals. My aunt had a recent fall and they are providing in house PT for her. The administrative staff are wonderful to work with and become familiar with their clients and family very quickly. I am at ease with them in memory care since the staff to patient ratio is higher than normal. Thank you, Dougherty Ferry, for being such a pleasant atmosphere for my mom and aunt.

We are new to the DF community. It has been quite the unexpected transition for a family member. The DF team has been so supportive through each step. They have taken countless questions via email, texts, calls and drop in conversations. Staff has been warm and approachable. Our family member is getting settled and comfortable learning the community more each day. So far it seems like a great fit.
