DESERT HORIZON RESIDENTIAL CARE

My mom had the opportunity to have Angela has her hospice nurse. She bonded with Angela immediately. We were looking for 24 hour care for our mom because she was rapidly declining. Angela let my brother and I come over at 11 am one morning for a tour. It was very evident that Desert Horizon Residential Care was going to be a perfect place for mom. It was clean, organized, and we could feel the love and support from Angela and her staff. We brought are mom over five hours later the same day. The hourly cost for caregivers for 24 hours was going to be outrageous. The price was very reasonable at Desert Horizon and it gave my family a peace and comfort knowing that our mom was truly not alone and was cared for with love and compassionate people.

In December of 2023 we had to make the hard decision to move my mom to a Residential Care Facility. She was at the point that she needed 24 hour care. We visited several care facilities. The owner of Desert Horizon, Angela was the only one that called us back and spent the time answering any and all of our questions. So we moved mom into Desert Horizon Residential Care Facility. The best decision we ever made. Angela (the owner) is always available to anwer questions or just let you know what's going on with your loved one. All the caregivers are fantastic. I never had a complaint of the care my mom received. They were all caring, loving and so helpful to my mom's needs. My mom passed into the arms of Jesus in January 2025. If anyone is looking for a place for a loved one that needs 24 hour care I would highly recommend Desert Horizon Residential Care Facility. They take great care of all the residents and the house is always very clean and well taken care of. God Bless Vickie Selle

My mother-in-law resided here, unfortunately. Her daughter sought out the most affordable place for her to live. In my view, Desert Horizons does not meet the standards of a professional care facility. During my visits, I observed that the owner and her daughter manage an understaffed facility while also breeding dogs on the premises. The conditions were distressing: dog waste in the halls, right in front of the elderly residents’ bedroom doors. On one occasion, the owner interrupted a conversation I was having during my visit. She proceeded to discuss “other options” besides living in a care facility. Shockingly, she expressed that she would prefer assistance with suicide rather than living in such a manner. It’s essential to note that I was visiting my mother-in-law, who is on hospice care. I firmly told the owner that this conversation was inappropriate and that she should leave. Key Concerns: Lack of 24-Hour Care: Residents call out for help at night, but nobody responds. Misleading Information: The website claims a staffed nutritionist, but in reality, caregivers prepare and cook the food. The quality of the food is far from what’s advertised. Unsanitary Conditions: The kitchen is in a deplorable state, with an unclean floor and a lack of proper hygiene. It urgently needs inspection. False Activities Listing: Despite promises of spa days, family nights, and crafts, all residents remain confined to their rooms, resulting in a depressing atmosphere. Thankfully, my mother-in-law was able to escape this distressing situation and find a better place. 🙏

My mother lived at Desert Horizon for over a year. I can’t give enough praise for the excellent care she received during her stay. 100% of the staff cared for her as if she was their own mother. Communication with Angela and Kelsie was excellent. It is so comforting to have a loved on in a facility you can count on for every detail.
