Canyon Villas

My Mom lives at Canyon Villas Retirement Home. She has been here almost two years. The staff here is very friendly, caring and attentive. She has a button that she can press when she needs help. The wait time is very good. Canyon Villas has a nice atmosphere. It looks like a nice apartment complex. With a nice gazebo,,grass lawn and flowers. It’s very clean, and well maintained. The food in the dining room is very good. They have really fun events too. I really enjoy spending time here with my Mom. They have craft projects. She just made a cute scarecrow lighted vase for fall. They have a seated exercise class and the leader makes it fun. Bingo, virtual reality, shopping trips. Everyone we have made friends with enjoys living here and they tell me, it’s the best place around. I highly recommend it.

My aunt has been at Canyon Villas for 8 years and it has been a good fit as her care needs have increased over time but without the very high prices that some places charge for her higher level of care. When she first moved in to assisted living, we could bring some of her own furniture and pictures to help with the adjustment to a new home. There are daily activities and holiday & birthday events and the food is enjoyable as the menu varies with fresh soups and desserts made daily. Now that she needs more care and oversight, the staff has been super in tending to her aging ailments and moods, her dietary needs including feeding and frequently communicate and welcome family/me to visit. I would recommend Canyon Villas if looking for senior care in San Diego.

Canyon Villas has been an amazing "home away from home" over the past 9 years for my now-95 year-old father. The administrative staff has always been super friendly & accommodating, and the nursing staff is top notch with regard to skill, care, & love for the residents. Additionally, the food/meals are nutritious & delicious, while the many activities are also very creative & well-planned. Dad has always been treated with the utmost respect & love, and I honestly feel so incredibly Blessed that we found such a perfect place for him to live out the rest of his golden years. Highly, highly recommend Canyon Villas!!!

I have lived at Canyon Villas since 2014 so it truly is my home. I love living here for many reasons but one of the main reasons is the improvements made in the community since Vonda Boller became our CEO in 2021. She has created an atmosphere of excellence with openness to suggestions and improvements. One of the things Vonda has implemented are mini fridges on each floor with bottled water, fresh fruit, yogurt parfaits, sweets, and snacks. She also implemented a periodic elaborate waffle bar in the morning, as well as freshly baked cookies in our community Baldwin Room every morning. Another reason my experience of living here is so good is the staff. Everyone from reception to dining room, nursing, housekeeping, maintenance, activities, and administration works hard with total professionalism, friendliness, and eagerness to please. I know they are happy to work here since some have been employees for 25 years or more! The grounds are always impeccable and the interiors are beautifully decorated for each holiday or season of the year. We also have a top notch hair stylist who provides services in a hair salon located on the first floor. In addition, there are special events throughout the year that are provided on a grand scale with wonderful attention to detail. We have had events such as Mother’s Day tea, Father’s Day lunch, 4th of July BBQ, and Western Day. There is always live entertainment, delicious food, and festive decorations. In particular, Mother’s Day has been very special due to the performance of a live harpist. On a personal note, I am extremely happy with my living quarters. I had been living in the same unit for 10 years and then Vonda gave her approval for me to move into one of the renovated units. I now have such a completely different and beautiful home. Overall, I highly recommend Canyon Villas as a place to reside. It is a very welcoming full service environment.

Peace of Mind and Outstanding Care at Canyon Villas My mother has been living at Canyon Villas for a couple of years, and we couldn’t be happier. She’s in an independent living apartment, furnished with her own things, which helped her feel at home right away. After a brief adjustment, she really began enjoying the many services and activities offered. She was always an excellent cook herself, and she often compliments the culinary team for the high-quality meals, the varied selections, and the different cuisines. I’ve joined her for meals, and the food has consistently been top-notch. She’s made friends, stays active with games, arts and crafts, and truly values the strong sense of community. Over time, we’ve added services like laundry and medication assistance after her cataract surgery, and the staff has always been caring, efficient, and thoughtful. Aurora and Ileen are true superstars — they always respond promptly to my inquiries. Honestly, the entire team — administrators, caregivers, reception, activities staff, med techs, maintenance, housekeeping and dining room team — is fantastic. It’s a huge relief knowing she’s in such good hands. I highly recommend Canyon Villas to any family considering senior living options.
