Brookdale Woodard Estates

My father has been a resident at Brookdale Woodward since the summer of 2025 after an injury prevented him from living independently. I can say, unequivocally, that it Brookdale is a hidden gem in the truest sense of the term. From the minute we made our initial contact with Kasja, we knew we stumbled upon something special. My father is 90 and this is the happiest I’ve ever seen him in my whole life. He has told me many times that he sees EVERYONE, from the staff to the residents, as his family - and when we visit him, it is evident that they feel exactly the same way about him. Brookdale employs some of the most dedicated, kindest and professional staff in the industry (I can say this confidently as someone who went through this process some years ago with my late mother). They have a fantastic daily activity schedule and they regularly book trips to places such as restaurants and casinos. I can’t forget to mention that he loves the food they serve, too. The crazy part is it that Brookdale also one of the most reasonably priced assisted living centers in the area (from our extensive research). We simply feel blessed & grateful to have found this place for my dad.

The staff is nice but not quick to respond to patient's needs. My Mom needs help dressing in the morning and very often they come extremely early or very late. The food system has changed, and they don't have a large menu for my mom to read. (decreased vision) I think it appears the organization is short staffed.

My father was a resident at Brookdale in Bowie, MD for just shy of a year before he passed. Our experience with Brookdale was horrible almost from the day we moved our father in. The leadership team at Brookdale is lacking in so many areas. The nursing staff do not know how to communicate and a lot of them barely speak English. There were a handful of nurses and techs that were great but 90% of that staff were terrible! They are very slow at responding to pendants when a resident needs help. The building is old and needs constant maintenance and maintenance issues are often times ignored. Corporate is weak as well. They come up with excuse after excuse after excuse! A family has to have a big mouth to get the services they say that they provide. All they care about is making money! PLEASE do your homework before placing your loved one in this facility. I have nothing good to say about Brookdale and would never, ever recommend anyone to go to Brookdale in Bowie, MD. I gave them one star because there is not an option to give zero stars.

My father and god-mother are both residents of Brookdale Woodland Estates! This location has been wonderful for my family. The staff are great and during this past year with COVID, they kept my loved ones safe. You must check this place out. I’ve referred several families to this place. Both of my folks are thriving in this place.

NIcola and the team at Brookdale have been great to work with! I had a short turn around time in getting my dad moved from his current facility to another and the team moved quickly. They have been extremely caring and helpful through this process. I would recommend Brookdale Woodward for your loved one.
