Somerby Edgewater

I just have to give a shoutout to Jenna at Somerby Edgewater! I visit my mom almost every day, and Jenna is often the smiling face I see at the front desk. No matter how busy things are, she is always warm, welcoming, and genuinely pleasant. She remembers who I am, always greets me with a smile, and has a way of making you feel important and cared about. And I have to mention, her outfits are ALWAYS the cutest! 😂 She is so well put together, stylish and trendy, and I swear I notice what she’s wearing every time I come in! It’s the little things that make such a difference when you’re visiting someone you love in memory care, and having someone like Jenna greet you makes Somerby feel that much more welcoming. She is truly a gem, and I hope Somerby knows how special she is! ❤️

Was very impressed how clean this facility was. And the receptionist Jenna was so very friendly and helpful to give me the information I needed.

The staff has had some turnover, but the creme is rising to the top and the right people are in place. The resident assistants always listen to our suggestions (memory care side). Lots of names I don't know, but always greeted with a smile and warm words by Jenna and Audra at the concierge desk.

My mother is a newer resident of Somerby Edgewater's Lilac Trace (memory care) community. I moved her from another community in Rock Hill that is absolutely terrible with horrific leadership. A lot of time, care, questions, and consideration went into finding and choosing a new community for my mother as I did not want to risk moving her from bad to worse or just equally bad. The communication, followup, follow through, and genuine concern from the executive leadership was consistent and refreshing throughout the entire process as clear and respectful communication was not the experience I had at the other place. On move-in day my mother was welcomed with a joyful greeting line of staff from throughout the building, confetti, music, smiles, hugs, and a gift basket. Overall her transition into the community has been smooth. There are minor new resident "getting to know you" bumps which are to be expected anywhere. Residents at Somerby Edgewater are never left alone, they are engaged throughout the day, they are changed frequently so no one is sitting for hours in soiled garments, they are treated with love, dignity, and respect, memory care is well staffed, and the staff are friendly and engaging with both the residents and their loved ones. Another added plus is that my mother is Lilac Trace's first plant-based resident and the kitchen director made sure to order foods that meet her needs which I greatly appreciate. It is not easy having a loved one who is living with this condition. It is also not easy having to make the decision to uproot them from what is familiar — even if the familiar is less than ideal — but you know it is within their best interest. That's where I was and if that is where you are, I highly recommend touring Somerby Edgewater for yourself to see if it is a good fit for your family.
