Desirae is exceptional—compassionate, responsive, and deeply empathetic. Her knowledge, kindness, and calm professionalism come through in every interaction, and it’s clear she genuinely cares about helping others. She is a true asset to Balfour communities and the families they serve.

I have parents at the Balfour Cherrywood. I have been most impressed by the team of caregivers at this memory care residence. In comparison, I have toured several other facilities in another state, and also have direct experience with my parents who previously lived in other lesser facilities in Colorado. And, I can say the caregivers and management at Cherrywood are high-quality, caring individuals. The vibe and culture are very positive. In addition, the building itself is well laid out and pleasant, has nice community spaces as well as a secure outdoor area.

Both of my parents are residents at Balfour Cherrywood, and I continue to be deeply impressed by the exceptional level of care, attention, and genuine engagement provided by the staff, nurses, and leadership team. The warmth and compassion they show make a world of difference—not only to my parents, but to our entire family. They love the food, music, activities, and excursions—it’s a warm, safe, and truly loving environment. The integrity and commitment to care start with the Executive Director, Drew Percival, and are reflected throughout the entire team. Cherrywood is the only stand-alone memory care residence I’ve found in Colorado with Montessori certification, a village-like feel, and consistently high engagement. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for outstanding memory care for their loved ones.

My Mom is at the facility and I believe she really enjoys it. She loves most of the food, particularly dinner and all of the desserts. Staff is great and always attentive. My Moms time at Balfour Cherrywood has now been six months and she is always in good spirits when I go to see her. She enjoys her room and the staff and will participate in activities when escorted there. Her room is always clean and laundry done even if it is not always to my satisfaction. I very much appreciate all of the staff who has to put up with me and my rants. I love the decorations they put up over the holidays making the facility cheerful to all who visit and especially to the residents.

My mom has been at Balfour for over a year now. In the time she’s been there she’s been more engaged, has more sass and seems genuinely happy. The facility is well kept, I get regular updates about my mom and residents appear clean, loved and valued. I feel heard and respected as well. Overall, my mom is healthy, happy and safe at Balfour. When I visit the residents are spoken to like family and hugs are provided when they need a little extra love. I really look forward to visiting my mom because then I can also interact with the other residents which is so fun because they can tell you stories and make you laugh. Update: 12/7/2023 - I wanted to address to review by Ellie stating that the residents are abused and found out wandering. I'm there on a weekly basis and don't see this, not discounting that this was her experience, but it's not mine. I'm not there every day to see what occurs, but I do find my mom is cared for, with frequent interactions and hugs from staff. There have been a few instances where I wish things were addressed differently but all in all I've never seen a resident get out of the building - in fact it's difficult for me to get in b/c someone has to use a key card to swipe me in before the door is unlocked. I think the key for me to is to check in regularly with staff. Additionally, the food is absolutely phenomenal. Chef Alex is terrific. For example, Thanksgiving included prime rib, turkey and ham served along with great sides and many choices for dessert including cheesecake and a pumpkin flan. I genuinely look forward to all events that will occur with food that Alex and staff prepare. One day I went in and Alex had made macaroon cookies and I told him how much I loved them and they were my favorite cookie. A few minutes later her came back with a box, just for me with a handful of cookies. It really made my day! Update 2/23/2025 It’s been a while since I’ve posted, and not much has changed. I’m still very satisfied with the care my mom has received and how staff has treated me when I visit. I’d like to highlight the special occasions the staff put together for residents and loved ones. At Christmas and Thanksgiving there are feasts to leave you full for days and residents make gifts for their loved ones like picture frames with pictures of their outings, or vases for centerpieces. For Mother’s and Father’s Days residents are spoiled with things like BBQs, snow cones and ice cream. For my mom’s birthday I requested a birthday cake and cookies and Chef Alex delivered a masterpiece that made our day special. See pics This year for Valentine’s Day they had a wonderful food spread and just about the best desserts I’ve ever tasted. They even included a chocolate fountain with strawberries which was amazing because my mom doesn’t each much anymore but she will eat any dessert and anything with chocolate. The staff truly goes above and beyond to make these occasions memorable and I feel so loved when I’m there. A special shoutout to Lily, the concierge, who is very instrumental in organizing these special events. She’s truly a gem and I am so thankful she’s on the staff. Working with her and the other staff make the tough moments bearable. I will continually add to this review as long as my mom is a resident but one piece of advice I'd offer is that if you're looking for care for a loved one, always do your due diligence and find a place you're comfortable with. Not every place will meet your expectations and there's always room for improvement in just about every setting we walk into, including a restaurant or a government agency. Your job is to help ensure the safety and quality of life your family member will receive and this means holding the staff accountable every step of the way where ever you choose to place your loved one.
