Deserves a ZERO rating. DON'T PUT YOUR LOVED ONE IN THIS PLACE. For10 days he was sedated, kept in in the common area recliner 23 hours a day, yet we paid for a single room. Staff do not speak English. You call the PA to address an issue you witnessed and YOU become a problem and they refuse to talk to you. Kristi will sweet talk you to get you in, tell you to call anytime, the 100% ghost you. And as for the headquarters in Dallas, good luck getting the owners to return ANY calls. Ps. They wheeled a little lady who was hunched over to the table for lunch. She stayed hunched over, not able to feed herself, left her there for about 45 minutes staring at her food, then wheeled her back in front of the TV. The Staff never attempted to assist her with feeding. We couldn't get dad out of there quick enough. Then, they wanted to charge us $7700 for 10 days stay. Pss. Knowing he was a fall risk after giving him sedated medications, left him unsupervised, and with out his walker alone in his room and I had to watch on the camera him fall backwards and hit the air-conditioning unit on the wall. Then had to call Jorge to tell him my dad just fell. Most nights a random lady would walk in dads room, lay in his bed for hours...then id see the non English speaking male staff come in making a prayer sign with his hands, like thank God he found her. Place needs to be investigated and shut down. Its so sad how horrible Healthcare/memory care, especially for our elderly, has gone to crap.

I really cannot thank the team at Avalon Memory Care enough. Everyone from their incredibly kind nurse helping us with placement to the director of the facility, Ms. Athena, and her team at the Boat Club Rd location. I'm in my early 30s, and did not think I would need help with my mom so early in my life. It was the hardest decision I've ever made, but when it got out of control at home, I feared I couldn't keep my job to support us and keep my mom safe with the type of care she needed. It's always been just me and her versus the world, but when I finally sought help they caught us and have kept my mom safe in some of her most challenging moments. It's just something I was not capable of doing myself. They walked me through the hardest parts of the process, and took the time to sit down and talk me through some of her challenges and coming up with plans to address them. Dementia is so difficult, and they know that, so I appreciate even the moments when they offered me comfort and reassurances - those are parts of the job they don't have to do, but they clearly care about everyone involved in that process. If anyone reading this is hesitant about whether or not it's the right time to seek help for a loved one, just know they're safe here. And you will grieve their absence at home, but know they're going to be somewhere more equipped to handle the needs of someone with those cognitive struggles. It's better for both of you in the long-term. They're doing incredibly hard work there, work a lot of people could not do. I hope everyone visiting the facility or communicating with memory care staff remembers that, and they show the team the same kindness and compassion they show residents. I've never encountered someone at the facility too busy to help me or talk to me, even though I'm sure they've always got an incredibly long to-do list. It's hard work, and I appreciate y'all so much.

I want to thank the Avalon staff for helping me with the care of my husband. I tried to do it by myself, but could not do it as it became a 24 hour job. Avalon was a blessing to us, the staff was always gracious and helpful. They took care of him, showered him, gave him haircuts, and helped to feed him when he couldn't. I went everyday to see him and Athena and her staff listened to any concerns we had regarding his decline and provided updates. He was well taken care of and I appreciated all their work during his stay there.

No place is perfect. But I always felt like they were trying. They have been renovating the Lake Worth property and it looks better. They keep things as clean as possible. The smells are sometimes a little rough but again, they try.

Response from the owner

Thank you for your honest feedback! We truly appreciate your recognition of our efforts and ongoing renovations. We're always striving to improve for our residents.

My father was at Avalon with Dimentia for 3 years and I could not have asked for a better place. My father received exceptional care. The employees became family to all of us and truly love and care for all the patients. My father also loved all the staff.
