For 25 years I lived in the neighborhood of Atria Willow Glen, and I always admired its 10 two story buildings amid leafy trees and beautiful Japanese landscaping. When it came time to actually pay a visit and consider a move, I was easily drawn to its homey environment on a 7-acre plot, above the Dry Creek, a welcome contrast to the many storied hospital like buildings that hardly looked homey, much less welcoming with the paved walkways, swimming pool, and community garden, much less a Koi pond. I moved in nearly 2 years ago and have never had a moment of feeling I’d made a mistake. There are many diversions, from Bingo games to art history lectures, a Bible study group and mahjong lessons. I was immediately elected to the Resident’s Council and have been mightily impressed by how seriously the members consider the welfare of all the residents, both independent, and not so much. Weekly excursions are scheduled to take us shopping, banking, and sightseeing to the beautiful Northern California sights and beaches. I’m also impressed by the many ways the administration takes care of us; musical groups, lecture series, and games, and movie nights being a few. It’s a great place to make friends, socialize, or go back to ones own apartment and read or write.

I'm a two year resident at the Atria Senior residence in San Jose, and I feel it is the very best place for me to be at this time of my life! Instead of being alone in my house after my husband died, I knew I needed community around me, so I set out to tour facilities near my old neighborhood. After considering many locations and touring four, I chose the Atria and have never regretted my decision. Here I've found a wonderfully supportive staff, beautiful grounds, and the choice of more activities than I could ever manage to participate in. And a population of residents who truly care about each other! It does take a village!!

Terrific place to live with a wonderful staff. I love the pool and use it 6 days a week. The food and service has been excellent. I enjoy the meetings and activities and have found my place teaching an art class. The setting is very pleasant and lovely to walk around. And we now have a garden that residents may participate in having their own space. Worth the price for sure.
