My family’s experience with Atria Grapevine has been unsatisfactory, and I would encourage anyone considering this community to carefully evaluate other options before placing a loved one there. During my mother’s residency, there were frequent changes in executive leadership, management, and staff. This lack of continuity contributed to ongoing communication challenges and made it difficult to resolve routine issues, as families often had to re-establish contact with new personnel. Communication was a recurring concern. Phone calls and emails were not always returned promptly and often required multiple follow-ups. In addition, there was limited proactive communication from management regarding issues affecting residents. Housekeeping and laundry services, which were provided for an additional fee, were inconsistent. Some weeks the services were completed as expected, while other times they were missed or not performed consistently. Given that these services are separately billed, consistency would be expected. There were also ongoing issues with the HVAC system in my mother’s apartment. Despite multiple service requests, the temperature regulation remained uneven, with noticeable differences between rooms that affected comfort. At one point, the elevator was under repair for more than a week. During this time, Atria provided meals to residents three times per day and waived the customary delivery fee, which was appreciated. However, when I visited my mother after the third or fourth day, I found stacks of Styrofoam to-go containers in her apartment. Many had not been opened and appeared to be several days old. It was unclear why staff had not removed or discarded them during routine checks. This raised serious concerns, as it created a potential health hazard-she could have unknowingly consumed spoiled food, and the accumulation also posed a risk of attracting pests. Annual rent increases were also a concern. This year’s increase exceeded 5%, which was difficult to reconcile with the service levels and operational issues experienced. Following a decline in my mother’s health and a subsequent fall, she was approved for long-term care. I requested that Atria waive the standard 30-day notice requirement due to the medical circumstances and timing of the transfer. That request was denied. While policies are an important part of any organization’s operations, there are situations where flexibility and individual circumstances may warrant consideration. In this case, the request was not accommodated. Based on our experience, I would not recommend Atria Grapevine. Other senior living communities may offer more consistent management, communication, and responsiveness to resident and family needs.

When we suddenly found ourselves needing to move my husband's father from his assisted living in Louisiana to one near us in the DFW area, we had to make a major decision quickly. I spent countless hours reading reviews, doing drive-bys, making phone calls, comparing prices, and checking availability. I also worked with a senior living locator service, and while I wish I could remember her name because she was incredibly helpful, but in 2 weeks from when he said he'd move we were moving him into Atria Grapevine. Although it was a little farther from our home than some other options, it stood out because of its reasonable pricing and overall feeling. From the moment we walked in, Atria felt like somewhere my father-in-law could be safe, cared for, and happy. I added a pic of when we first saw the place. There is plenty of room for a bed, chair, TV, etc. There was a kitchen area with full size frig, microwave, sink, etc it's just not in the pic. It was one of their smaller rooms but it was perfect for him! They kept it clean and did his laundry every week. The community offers a wonderful balance of independence and support. There are residents who are still active and driving, others who use walkers or scooters, and those who need more assistance. It never felt institutional. Instead, it felt like a community where people could continue living life, making friends, and staying engaged at whatever level was right for them. The activities were fantastic. There were games, Bingo, live entertainment, outings on the shuttle bus, daily Bible study groups, and plenty of opportunities for residents to socialize and build meaningful friendships. The outdoor areas were beautiful and inviting, giving residents pleasant spaces to enjoy fresh air or walk around the path to stay in shape. I noticed they have PT on every floor (3 floor facility) and a hair salon on site which was nice. The food was excellent. In fact, some of the desserts were so good that I joked the cake was better than anything I could make myself! Meals felt like something residents could genuinely look forward to each day. Another big question I had was trusting them with billing, but it was straightforward, accurate, and easy to understand (without going up or random charges in the 6 months we were there). What impressed us the most was the staff. They all knew him by name and would say, "Hi! Mr. Jerry!" During a scheduled elevator maintenance period, they went above and beyond and delivered meals to residents, provided activities on each floor, and even brought special treats every afternoon like root beer floats and warm cookies. I saw them go out of their way to care for their residents mental health as well like when the service dog, Whiskey, comes by for visits. I also saw a group of high school boys that would come every week to play cards with the residents. From the ones greeting visitors at the front desk, to the nurses, dining staff, housekeeping team, maintenance workers, and everyone in between, we consistently encountered kindness. Every interaction reflected genuine care and respect. No one seemed rushed. We knew he was surrounded by people who genuinely wanted the best for him. Most importantly, I felt confident that God had placed him exactly where he needed to be and I know God will guide you as well in your search for a place for your loved one. We are incredibly grateful to everyone at Atria Grapevine for making his final months there comfortable, engaging, and filled with kindness. We wholeheartedly recommend this community to any family searching for assisted living for someone they love.

Response from the owner

Thank you for taking the time to share something so personal, Elizabeth. Moving a loved one quickly is stressful, and it means a lot to hear that our team made the transition feel right from the very first walk-through. What you described, from the staff knowing Mr. Jerry by name to the little extras during elevator maintenance, is exactly the kind of community we work hard to be every day. The high school boys who come to play cards always bring such great energy to the floor. We are grateful he spent his final months with us, and we are honored your family trusted us with his care.

Atria has been amazing since I brought my Dad to their Memory Care over year ago. The Director Theresa over the unit is incredible. She is the shining star at Atria Grapevine. Theresa is always accessible for any questions or concerns I have about my father. She keeps the residents active and takes them out for activities. She is cognizant that despite their residents having dementia, she will not confine them to the unit. Theresa CARES about her residents and her staff! She is truly the difference in that unit and a real leader!! The ENTIRE staff has been so very patient with my Dad. He is extremely difficult, but they love and care for my Dad like he is their own. The staff are always proactive in making sure my father has his medications and any other needs he may require I HIGHLY recommend Atria Grapevine. They are family to me!

Response from the owner

We are honored to hear how well your father has settled into our home. It sounds like Theresa has created that special atmosphere where families feel truly connected to our community. Your words about our team's patience and care mean everything to us. We know how challenging transitions can be, and it's clear our staff has embraced your dad with the warmth he deserves.
