I have been to Avina (formerly Alexian Village) a number of times over the past few years. The staff is polite, the facilities are clean and the residents seem to be happy and enjoy their home. I've participated in a few events there and love the atmosphere, the community engagement and find their list of activities and the Activities Director to be a wonderful asset to your organization. Kaylin always makes sure everyone is engaged, happy and taken care of. She is a pleasure to work with. I recommend your facility any chance I am given.

We had a lovely visit today! Everyone was kind and welcoming. There are many wonderful features scattered throughout the buildings. Several pianos, the conservatory, the aviary, the library area, and the restaurant/bar are among my favorites. The ATM and the mini store are also nice amenities. I noticed the chapel and entry with the amazing stained glass. It is great that there are Catholic and non-denominational services weekly. A variety of comfortable seating areas provide for a nice place to visit. The overall vibe is so good!

I moved here is 2018. This is a wonderful place to live. I’m very happy here. I’m thrilled we have a chapel with mass six days a week. We have lots of wonderful activities. I’m part of a writers group, a book club, and it’s a wonderful way to get to know people. I find that this is a family. The staff here cares enormously about everyone. The continuum of care is truly important. If we need it we can move to Assisted Living. Both my Mother and Brother have lived here. Look at Avina, and you’ll find it’s a marvelous decision to make on your own.

We moved my mother-in-law from a different independent living facility on the south side to Avina in late October. It was the best thing we have been able to do in many years for her. The apartment is bigger and better than the one she had at Layton Terrace, with her cost dropping 42%!! ($3,200 to $1,850 per month). The place is very clean. There is competent cleaning services. She gets the same 20 meals per month. And speaking of the food, her food complaints are down by at least 50%. (Let's be real, ALL old people complain about the food at these places.) Maintenance requests (the few we had moving in) were handled with promptness and professionalism. Also, there is a very busy activities calendar with things like bingo, movies, and arts/crafts. The residents are friendly and outgoing. There is a bus that takes residents on Mondays for shopping at multiple places in the area. We have not been able to cajole her into doing that yet, but good to know it's available. And she is Catholic, so the very lovely Chapel is great for her on Sundays, and she also gets Communion delivered to her on Saturday night. When my kids and my wife's siblings first visited her, the scope of this deal blew them away. (amenities and space for the price). My mother-in-law is very happy there, and that in and of itself is an accomplishment, as her nature is not that of contentment. If you've been at this game for a while like we have, you know none of these places are perfect, but Avina feels "upscale" to both her and to us--which is really something when you consider the massive cost savings. Oh by the way, she now refers to her old place as "a dump". Reinforces my theory that "...everything is 'compared to what?'"

My Grandma moved into Avina Living Milwaukee in October 2025, and the difference compared to where she lived before has been truly remarkable. This move has been such a positive step up for her, and for our entire family. The staff consistently go above and beyond to make her feel comfortable and supported during her transition. Every time I visit, I’m greeted warmly. It’s clear that the kindness extend from the staff is not just to residents, but to their families as well. My Grandma loves the wide variety of activities at Avina. She’s always telling me about the events she attends, the people she’s meeting, and what she is making in the craft classes. The facilities are impressive, and one of her favorite features is the aviary—she enjoys spending time there, visiting the finches, which is a unique and peaceful touch to a community like this. The building itself is beautiful: large, filled with natural light from so many windows, and thoughtfully designed. As a family member, I’m also comforted by the visible security at the gated entrance and the overall sense of safety throughout the building. We couldn’t be happier with the care my Grandma receives at Avina Living Milwaukee. It has brought her peace, connection, and comfort; and it has brought us peace of mind. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for exceptional senior living for themselves or their loved one.
