When my mom got to the point of requiring an added level of care we began searching for a place that could meet her needs and were fortunate to find Active Care Homes of Scottsdale. The owners, George and Crina Gavrila and all of their staff members truly care about the well being of those entrusted to their care, and this in my opinion, is what sets Active Care homes apart from other care facilities who view care of the elderly as nothing more than a money making endeavor. The three homes owned by Active care are just that, single family homes converted to care facilities for the elderly that have a warm inviting homey feel, as opposed to the cold impersonal antiseptic feeling of other multi-bed facilities where the staff is often under qualified, overworked and short on patience. My mom was cared for by Active Care for almost four years before she passed. We visited frequently and got to know the caregivers on a personal level and also were able to see firsthand how they interacted with those they were charged with caring for. While most of us don't like the thought of having someone else look after our loved ones, it is often an unfortunate reality due to the level of monitoring and advanced care that immediate family is often incapable of providing. Active Care Homes gave us that level of relief and comfort in knowing that our loved one was being well cared for.
