Banyan is Family ❤️ I am long overdue in writing this review. August 2026 will mark two years my mom has been a resident at A Banyan Residence in Venice. There is definitely something very special about this place. With it being a smaller facility it offers a family feel and the opportunity to know the caregivers, med-techs, food service staff, housekeepers, groundskeepers, maintenance workers, as well as getting to know the family members of other residents. All staff is trained in working with the residents there and understanding the dynamics involved. The grounds are very inviting with both fruit and palm trees, flowers, winding paths, a koi pond, beautiful gazebo, fountains, and a BBQ area (which hosts a family BBQ each Sunday). All rooms are ground floor and open to this beautiful outdoor space. It is the absolute opposite of the institutionalized feel most assisted living/memory care facilities have. Another huge plus is that the memory care residents are not separated from the assisted living residents. It works! I relate it to inclusion classes in school. People learn from others regardless of ability levels. Another aspect I appreciated when finding Banyan, is once there, you are there in your chosen room. You are not required to move from assisted living room, to a memory care space (as all residents as I mentioned earlier have access to the same spaces), or if hospice is needed, that is provided in your same space which brings comfort to all. A huge shout out to two people who got us through those beginning months when we all were adjusting. Kassidy and Megan. Kassidy was the Caregiver Supervisor and was recently promoted to Resident Care Coordinator. She is truly one of the most special and supportive people I’ve ever met. Megan was the Resident Care Coordinator and recently promoted to the Supervisor position. When my mom was hospitalized in Sarasota for pneumonia, she came to visit….TWICE. These two shared personal phone numbers, texted, listened, and were and are always still there. I consider them family. There are so many wonderful people I would like to mention, but a special thanks to my mom’s special caregivers.. Penny and Laura. They go above and beyond, and to Jessica, the activities director. She is incredible with a contagious smile and warm heart. She offers a WIDE variety of activities to meet the different needs of residents there. Garden club (they plant and maintain their vegetable garden), walking clubs both on and off campus, pet therapy, exercise, arts and crafts, library visits, weekly restaurant outings, live music, and SO MUCH MORE! I truly appreciate each and every person there. The feel there is like no other. I’m so very thankful for them, and that a place like this exists for my mom.

Staff sleeping at night, impossible to get a hold of anyone overnight. Had an emergency, no one picking up phone, answering doorbell or responding to banging on gate. Don’t expect them to care for your loved one at night because they’ll never be heard. ACHA will be notified

I cannot say enough good things about Banyan. From the very beginning, their entire team has been professional, compassionate, and incredibly supportive. They guided me through a very difficult process with clarity and patience, always making sure my questions were answered and my concerns were heard. The unique setting is truly one of a kind. Residents have ready access to the outdoors, with beautiful gardens everywhere that provide daily stimulation and peace. The gazebo is a hub of activity, where music and engaging “sports” like cornhole and adapted darts are led by caring, energetic staff. These activities not only brighten the days but also foster connection and joy. What stood out most to me was the community atmosphere. The thoughtful blending of assisted living with memory care gave my relatively younger husband (65 with FTD) a genuine sense of belonging, while providing me with an extended support team to collaborate with for his best care. It felt less like an institution and more like a family working together. It is rare to find an organization that combines expertise with such genuine human care. Banyan goes above and beyond, and I am deeply grateful for their role in making a challenging time more manageable. I would wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone seeking a place where both residents and their loved ones are embraced with compassion, dignity, and respect.

The Banyan is a welcoming, caring community that encourages family involvement. Staff is excellent & the culture is positive allowing everyone there to work together to provide a great program for residents. The food, activities & care services are wonderful! The unique outdoor gardens & fountains are calming & give residents more opportunities for fresh air & movement! My husband enjoyed interacting with staff & residents while he was there.
